Mailman Stops In His Tracks As He Sees Dog Tied To Tree - Once He Sees Her Face Realizes He Has To Act Fast

One of the most common occupational hazards for a mail carrier is running into an angry, aggressive dog on their route. There's a reason it's the butt of TV jokes; it really happens.
Dan Targonsk, a mailman who greatly enjoys his work, was no exception. Constantly on the look-out for out of control dogs, he lost his patience when he saw a Boxer tied to a tree, snarling and running in circles looking ready to bite.

Dan took a second look, however and came to a realization: this dog was not trying to cause trouble, it needed help.
He ran over to the pooch and noticed that it had clearly been abused: the dog was starving, dehydrated, dirty and begging for help.
Dan knew he could not leave this dog to die; he called the Adopt-A-Boxer Rescue to help save the dog's life. While he waited, he contacted his supervisor, telling him about the situation.
He gave the poor suffering dog some water and kept it company while they waited for the rescue service to arrive.
When the rescue service came and gave the dog (who was later named Kuperus) a check-up, they realized the situation was direr than Dan had thought. Kuperus's head had but bludgeoned by either a bullet or a knife.
Kuperus had also been physically abused, as her jaw had been broken, resulting in several of her teeth needing to be removed. Amazingly, Kuperus was not snarling and angry, she just wanted help and someone to care for her.
With the help of Dan and the rescue service, Kuperus began to show signs of recovery. Dawn Karam, the founder of Adopt-A-Boxer Rescue, said,
"It boggles my mind how she craves attention. She really wants nothing more than to be touched. Even after some terrible human beat her and left her to die. Simply amazing."
We are fortunate that there are people like Dan, who have enough sympathy to delay their work to help a wounded animal. In addition to helping save Kuperus's life, Dan visited her regularly while she was recovering.
Everyone who came in contact with Kuperus loved her and was deeply-moved by her story. Fortunately, this story has a happy ending: Kuperus's surgeon, Dr. Jennings was so touched by Kuperus's strength and love that he decided to take her in when she was ready for adoption!
