'M*A*S*H' Actress Kellye Nakahara Wallett Has Died, Aged 72

The film and television actress Kelly Nakahara Wallett has passed away. She lost a brief battle with breast cancer at the age of 72 and died on Sunday.

Her sister Nalani Coleman confirmed her death to CNN, and said that she died in her home in Pasadena, California surrounded by loved ones.

"She was a performer and an artist, and she did her artwork to make people happy, which in turn gave her joy," Coleman stated to CNN. "People wanted to be near her, she was genuine in her persona."

Nakahara was born in Hawaii in 1950 according to IMDb and was a successful actress in her time. She was best known for her time on 'M*A*S*H' for the entire run of the show from 1973-1983. It is set on a Korean Army base and she played nurse Kelley Yamato.

She also had a pivotal role as the cook in the 1985 movie 'Clue,' and was in John Hughes' 'She's Having a Baby,' as well as 'Dr. Dolittle.'

More recently she had continued acting in Pasadena's East West Players theater group, singing in the Town Singers vocal group, and held a role as an arts commissioner for the city. She was also an accomplished watercolor artist.

She had two children with her husband David Wallett, married in 1968, according to IMDb.
