Losing Weight With The Purple Diet: Is It Possible?

Look out! A new diet is on the scene ready to take the weight loss world by storm—it's called "the purple diet" and has already been used by celebs such as Mariah Carey as a way to lose weight quickly.
It may seem bizarre, but it might be bizarre enough to work. If you want to follow this diet, this diet has you eating only lilac fruits and vegetables like eggplant, red cabbage, and grapes. You can eat these as often or as little as you like, but if you want to stay truly committed to the diet, you'll want to be eating only these foods at least 3 days a week.
Purple foods are great for your health and contain the notorious anti-oxidant anthocyanin, which can have a wide range of health benefits for your body.

However, does this mean you should follow the diet? Sioned Quirke, a spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association, doesn't think so. She says this because these types of diets that are focused on specific colors and other factors of food that don't truly affect the food or eating habits, what she refers to as "fad dieting".
This is an important aspect to keep in mind when considering following something like The Purple Diet, as the foods are certainly healthy for you, but eating them exclusively may not be healthy for you in the long run. It is good to get healthy doses of the foods that keep you going and increase your health, but it's also important to lead a life that includes a balanced diet so you can be sure that you're getting all of the nutrients you need.
It can be intimidating, but the only way to effectively lose weight is to follow a balanced diet and supplement that by getting your necessary nutrients and exercising in order to make sure that you burn off the calories and weight that you need to. This is certainly not easy but will pay off in the long run much more than following fad diets in the hopes that they'll work.
