Looking Back At The 1990 Grammy's Celebrity Fashion

As the 2020 Grammy's are rapidly approaching, it's interesting to see how celebrities and fashion have evolved over time. Taking a look back 30 years ago, we've narrowed down some of the most memorable moments in fashion/grammy history. 

Paula Abdul and John Stamos

Posing as a couple in 1990, Abdul and Stamos attended the Grammy's together both looking very 90's. According to the Recording Academy, Abdul had been nominated for best pop vocal performance for her popular song "Straight Up."

She color-coordinated with the trophies as she dressed in an all-good fringe mini dress that featured geometric cut-outs. Stamos looked as dapper as ever in a double-breasted suit.

Tommy Lee and Heather Locklear

Rock drummer Tommy Lee from the band Motley Crue brought his then-wife Heather Locklear to the 32nd Annual Grammy Awards. The couple looked very grunge as they dressed in all black leather. Motley Crue had been nominated for best hard rock performance for their song "Dr. Feelgood." 

Bette Midler

Singer Bette Midler took home a grammy after being nominated for her hit "Wind Beneath My Wings." The vocalist wore a blue-gray satin dress that's top was a suit jacket. It's exactly what you'd expect at the 1990 Grammys. 

Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi

Actor and dancer Patrick Swayze looked dashing at the awards show with his wife Lisa Niemi in hand. Both color-coordinated between black and white. Swayze in a white bow-tie and black tuxedo jacket and Lisa wearing a two-piece white shirt and bottoms. 

Paul McCartney and Ella Fitzgerald

The two legends posed together for pictures at the event. McCartney was being honored with a lifetime achievement award and dressed in a patterned undershirt while Fitzgerald looked suave in a long-sleeve high-collared silk dress. 

Don Henley and Patty Smyth

Eagles member Don Henley was nominated four times for the 32nd Grammys awards. He brought singer and songwriter Patty Smyth as his date. Smyth wore and oversized, red, plush coat and black sunglasses while Don looked relaxed in a charcoal tux and shades. 

Garry Shandling

The late comedian Garry Shandling who passed in 2016 had hosted the 1990 Grammys. He looked humourous in his loose-fitting tux, no tie, and double-breasted jacket.
