Lizzo has always been known for her message of body positivity and acceptance. Time and again, the “About Damn Time” singer, 36, has stood her ground against body-shamers and encouraged many people around the world to love their bodies. In recent years, she has also come out and shared that she had embarked on a fitness journey and was working on her relationship with food.

She chronicled her weight-loss journey on various social media platforms, including TikTok and Instagram, taking her fans along. Her updates included a video of her jumping rope steadily while tagging her trainer in the caption. The singer has also clarified that her fitness and weight-loss goal wasn’t to be skinny. Instead, it was to reach her ideal body weight. She said:

“Hey, so I’ve been working out consistently for the last five years, and it may come off as a surprise to some of y’all that I'm not working out to have your ideal body type. I’m working out to have my ideal body type.”

The singer and rapper recently sparked a frenzy online when she shared a milestone weight-loss journey update. She posted a picture on Instagram with her weight loss stats, announcing that she had reached her goal. The caption read

“I did it. Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven’t seen this number since 2014! Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!”

Unsurprisingly, netizens were stunned by Lizzo’s transformation. Many claimed that she was taking the now-infamous celebrity weight-loss drug, Ozempic, but Lizzo quickly shut down those claims. She posted a series of pictures on Instagram, joking that the allegations meant that her hard work was paying off.

“When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit,” she wrote.

Explaining the intentions of her weight-loss journey on TikTok.

“I am actually on an intentional weight loss journey right now,” she said in the first part of the clip. “Even at the end of my weight loss journey, I’m not going to be considered thin by any means. I will still be considered morbidly obese on the BMI and little bros on the internet are still going to call me ‘big backed’...But I will be happy.”

Many took to social media to react to Lizzo’s dramatic weight loss after she posted a picture on social media. One user instantly defended the singer against the Ozempic allegations, commenting:

“Can y’all go one post without mentioning how 'skinny’ she's getting or how she’s ‘using Ozempic’? She’s been documenting her fitness and healthy eating journey this whole time.”

Another fan positively reacted, writing:

“She was beautiful before and is beautiful now.”

One user shared their shock at the change in Lizzo’s appearance.

“She looks like a different person,” they wrote.

Still, some remained skeptical, like one netizen who wrote:

“Understandable, but this doesn’t look like your normal weight loss through diet and exercise... I pray Lizzo isn’t sick or anything, and I wish her the best.”
