Losing a father at a young age is difficult for a young girl. It's especially challenging growing up as the only daughter of a world-famous entertainer worshiped by fans decades after his death.
This was the challenge that the late Lisa Marie Presley knew after losing her father when she was only 9 years old. She addressed her feelings by recording a cover of one of his most famous songs that included both of their voices.
Tragically, Lisa, passed away at the age of 54 on Jan. 12, 2023. According to TMZ, Lisa was pronounced dead after she was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital, where she was taken after suffering cardiac arrest that morning.
Her mother, Priscilla Presley, said in a statement to the outlet that the family was "shocked" and "devastated" by the tragic death of her daughter. They are also "profoundly grateful" for the support, love and prayers of their fans and were seeking privacy during the rather difficult time.
Lisa is survived by her mother, Priscilla, and her three living children, Riley, Harper and Finley.
Lisa Marie never got to know her father as an adult. However, something of him remains in every song that he sang. One such song was "In the Ghetto," the lyrics of which tell the story of a poor boy born in the ghettos of Chicago.
Growing up hungry and poor, the kid buys a gun, steals a car, and tries to make a run for it, only to die in the streets just as his own son is born in the ghetto. It is one of Elvis' most iconic songs.

For the 30th anniversary of her father's death, Lisa Marie got to share a special moment by recording this song that he made so famous. In a special twist, she created a video duet with her father where they sang the song together.
The resulting video was a loving tribute to the man she called "Dad" as well as a fitting homage to the man fans called "The King." We think The King would be very proud of his daughter and the duet that she created for him.
