Line Dancers Tear Up Floor With Sizzling 'Boogie Woogie' Performance

Dancing brings joy to people the world over. Whether you're engaging in a slow waltz or a fast swing dance, feeling the music and dancing is one of the happiest things a person can do. It's also been said that dance is a timeless interpretation of life, which is why seeing professionals show off their dance skills is all the more joyous to watch.

One dance performance from 2017 demonstrates this perfectly. Recorded at the Rock That Swing Festival in Munich, Germany, the video features a large crowd of people in one big line dance. The song they've chosen is "Killer's Boogie" by The Killer, aka Jan Rietman. It's a fast-paced song that allows all of the dancers to perform the boogie-woogie, which is a type of swing dance.

According to Herrang Dance Camp, today's version of the boogie-woogie was inspired by American rock 'n' roll and Lindy Hop dancing from the 1950s but was developed further in Europe to become the style we see today. It's a fun, fast-paced social dance that is mostly performed in dance clubs these days.

The dance's vintage influence is also clear in the clothing that dancers usually wear while they perform the boogie-woogie. In this video, the large group is dressed to the nines with suspenders, ties and slicked hair for the men, while the women are wearing A-line skirts and pin curls in their hair. As they perform the boogie-woogie with incredible speed and enthusiasm, the entire group of line dancers blazes across the dance floor with a retro flair.

Although some people can claim to have seen the boogie-woogie dance in action, not so many can actually perform it themselves. In reality, the dance demands great skill, passion and dedication in order to accurately make the boogie-woogie motions. Despite sounding like a silly, wacky dance that might be more spontaneous than choreographed, anyone attempting the boogie-woogie themselves will understand just what a feat it is to perform it!

The dancers in the video make it seem fairly effortless as they begin by clapping their hands to the beat. But within seconds they're moving their feet with incredible speed. What's more, they're all performing in unison as they stand in line, so while the dance looks spontaneous and off-the-cuff, it's clear each dancer has spent a while perfecting the choreography.

It's wonderful to see how each dancer puts their own flair on the moves they're performing. And while all of them are doing an incredible job, the two men in the front, Rasmus Holmqvist and Marcus Koch, appear to be leading the group. Their moves are amazing, and their faces suggest they're having the time of their lives too.

If you are a boogie-woogie die-hard, then you've probably already heard of the famous Rock That Swing Festival. The event is an occasion to celebrate old-school dances that professionals and amateurs alike look forward to every year. As said by the organization’s Facebook representative, the festival is a celebration of the diversity of vintage dances and swing music from the '20s all the way through to the '50s.
