Lenny Kravitz is one of the most prominent musicians and rock icons worldwide. After winning Grammy Awards for Best Rock Vocal Performance for four consecutive years, he really made a mark in the music industry and on the entertainment scene, and as an actor too.
He is recognizable from a mile away because of his iconic dreadlocks and small stature, and especially his distinctive voice.
Kravitz was one of the biggest musicians in the world from the early 1980s until today; he was born on May 26, 1964, to NBC television news producer Sy Kravitz and trailblazing Black actress Roxie Roker in New York.
He is a man of many musical talents, working as a singer, songwriter, record producer and instrumentalist. On top of that, he is also an actor. Some of his hits include “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over,” “Are You Gonna Go My Way” and “American Woman.”
Kravitz’s most popular relationship was his marriage to actress Lisa Bonet. The two were close friends for a few years prior to starting their relationship in 1985. They eloped to Las Vegas in November 1987 on Bonet’s 20th birthday and welcomed a daughter, Zoë Kravitz, in Dec. 1988. However, Kravitz and Bonet divorced in 1993.
Like many music icons, Kravitz is an all-together kind-hearted person like many. In the past, he has shown kindness to his fans in many different ways. In 2010, the singer surprised a field full of people when he joined a choir singing one of his songs. Kravitz is one good soul. As much as he can, he takes the time to bond with his fans and surprise them with his kindness.
In 2019, the famed drummer and singer surprised his 5-year-old super fan, Justin Wilson, on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." Wilson is no stranger to DeGeneres' stage. The little boy appeared on the show earlier that year after becoming a viral sensation because of his amazing drumming skills.
During the initial performance, Wilson performed Kravitz's song, "Fly Away." The audience was smitten by both his musical talent as well as his bold personality. As he returned for the second time, Wilson could not believe who was in front of him.
During the middle of his performance of "Are You Gonna Go My Way," Kravitz appeared from behind the stage. Wilson's reaction when he saw his favorite star is truly priceless.
Kravitz immediately gave him a high five as soon as he revealed himself. “It’s so good to see you!” Wilson screamed as Kravitz was carrying him away from the drumset. The two shared another high-five as the little kid basked in his presence.
Watching the video, it is hard to tell if he is more excited to see his musical idol or to see the bevy of Spider-Man gifts that were presented to him by DeGeneres.
However, this wasn’t the only time Kravitz showed kindness and appreciation to his fans. In 2010, he gatecrashed a choir performance in New Orleans, as he was coincidentally just right around the block when he heard one of his popular songs being sung by the group.

In 2010, when Kravitz was around Lewisville in New Orleans, Louisiana, he happened to hear a very familiar sound around the block.
“I was just sitting up on the terrace having a drink, and I heard some strange music,” he said in the video. Shortly after, Kravitz was seen in the field, clapping his hands and jamming to the tune of “Fly Away.”
According to Dallas Morning News, the choir’s director, Kelvin Reed, revealed that he couldn’t turn down Kravitz. So after singing the song, they sang it again for the second time, now with Kravitz drumming and singing alongside them.
"It was one of the strangest things I've ever experienced," he recalled. "All of my students said, 'Kelvin, did you plan that?' That was just one of those unique experiences."
Apparently, the Voice of Praise Choir was at the field raising funds for post-Hurricane Katrina relief operations. They performed an un-rehearsed version of the song to attract crowds, as they usually sing worship songs.
"This is a famous musician. He just comes down and wants to jam with us," one of the choir members told the outlet. "It makes you realize as a musician you have this sense of kinship, and you all come from the same experiences."
For them, the coincidence was a God-driven blessing. Reed attested to this, too: “We just really believe that God was glorified in the whole thing. It came from nowhere. It was just icing on the cake after a great week of ministry."
The outlet reported that the performance lasted 15 minutes. Meanwhile, some of the choir members initially thought Kravitz was a busker or “street performer,” but soon enough their doubts were eased when they realized it was a real music icon helping them for free.
