Lead Singer Of Metal Band Disturbed Has Heartwarming Moment After Pausing Concert To Console Little Girl He Scared

Disturbed has been around for a while and has amassed a huge fan base since its formation in 1994. Since joining the band in 1996, David Draiman, the frontman, has also delivered hits with the band, making it one of the top metal groups. The heavy metal band dropped its first hit, “The Sickness,” in 2000 and shocked many in 2016 when they did a piece that was antithetical to their usual style.
Disturbed covered Simon and Garfunkel’s signature track, “The Sound of Silence,” during a live appearance on "Conan" in 2016 and made it sound awesome. Meanwhile, Disturbed was not the only band to cover the iconic song since it was first released in 1965. Smithsonian Magazine reported that over 60 covers of the folk-rock song exist.
Accompanied by a packed string section, a piano and a pair of massive kettledrums, Draiman gave a spectacular performance on the "Conan" stage as he transformed Simon and Garfunkel’s folk-rock hit into something entirely different. For some, it was just as likable or more than the original. However, it was a different story for the Disturbed frontman before he took the stage.
“I did have major concerns going in,” he told Hammer. “I remember playing the track for a bunch of my colleagues and friends prior to it coming out, very secretively, and really being unsure. They were like, ‘Don’t be, this is magic.’”
“The other guys were fooling around, and here I am pacing like a maniac, trying to warm up and praying, praying, praying,” he said of the day they performed.
Draiman caught people’s attention again when a video of him pausing his concert to reassure a little girl the band scared popped up on TikTok on Aug. 21, 2023. Continue reading for the details.

Draiman surprised many people when he did something unusual. He was in the middle of his concert for the Take Back Your Life Tour when he paused to comfort a young concert-goer who was in the front row.
A TikTok video posted by Disturbed on Aug. 21, 2023, showed the moment the rock artist stood before the little girl.
“I’m very proud of you. You're awesome,” Draiman told the girl.
After asking if she was okay, he asked for her name and learned she was named Sophia. The lead singer then asked the audience to say hello to her.
It turned out that Draiman observed her singing every song he led with enthusiasm, so he asked her to come up, but the request scared the little girl, who burst into tears.
“It's okay, baby, it's okay. I didn't mean to scare you. You okay? You promise?” he asked before he added, “Oh, darling, you're making me feel terrible now,” and laughed, embarrassed.
The lead singer then climbed on the barricade to address all the concert-goers.
“See, I love, absolutely love, that Disturbed concerts have become a family affair. I love it,” he said.
He pointed out that the little girl followed Disturbed’s performances with all her heart, and his 9-year-old son was also watching the concert. Draiman emphasized the crowd was one regardless of their backgrounds and preferences. He then turned to his young fan and told her:
“Besides, darling, we may be dark. But let me share a secret with you. Sometimes darkness can show you the light.”
Disturbed also posted the video on Instagram and captioned it:
“Everyone who comes to a Disturbed concert is welcome and accepted and loved 🖤.”
