Lady Gaga is a 14-time Grammy-winning pop icon, actress, and philanthropist known for her bold artistry, powerful vocals, and groundbreaking innovation. On Mar. 17, 2025, the pop legend received the Innovator Award at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. During her acceptance speech, she reflected on her journey and expressed gratitude to her fans.
Alongside this honor, the artist was also in the running for multiple awards at the event. Her collaboration with Bruno Mars, “Die with a Smile,” which won a Grammy in February 2025, earned nominations for best collaboration and best music video. Additionally, she was recognized in the favorite on-screen category for her 2024 film “Gaga Chromatica Ball.”
The singer had been keeping busy following the release of her album, “Mayhem,” on Mar. 7, 2025. While actively promoting the project, she appeared on well-known shows such as “Hot Ones” and the “Las Culturistas” podcast. On Mar. 8, 2025, Gaga took center stage on “Saturday Night Live,” where she delivered live renditions of “Abracadabra” and “Killah.”
Speaking about her new album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, she shared: “The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved.” She described “Mayhem” as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
At the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Lady Gaga began her speech by saying: “I don’t know totally how to think about this because winning an award honoring my entire career at 38 years old is a hard thing to get my head around.”
She reflected on her journey in the industry: “On the one hand, I feel like I’ve been doing this forever and on the other hand, I know I’m just getting started.”

“So even though the world might consider a woman in her late 30s old for a pop star, which is insane, I promise that I’m just getting warmed up.”
She then said:
“Innovation isn’t about breaking rules, it’s about writing your own and convincing the world they were theirs all along. Like showing up to the Grammys in an egg or creating an anthem that everyone told us was too controversial until it became undeniable. If I have learned anything in three decades I’ve been at this, it’s that the most powerful innovation is your authenticity.”
She shared the internal mantra that has guided her throughout her career: never “compromise.” She said she also drew inspiration from the strong women in her family.
“Tonight I think of my grandmothers, fiercely brilliant Italian-American women who reinvented their destinies with nothing but strength, dreams and determination,” she stated, adding, “They didn’t invent technology or art, they invented possibility, shaping the future with nothing more than their minds. And those women, my ancestors, are the greatest women that I’ve ever known.”
Lady Gaga also paid homage to many artists who influenced her career, such as icons like David Bowie, Elton John, Madonna and Stevie Wonder. The artist also thanked her “dear friend” Tony Bennett, who taught her “to embrace the classics but never be bound by them.”
She then expressed gratitude to her fans and the LGBTQ+ community:
“And to the LGBTQ+ community, you taught me bravery before the world was ready to listen. You have changed the world for the better, and your courage fuels mine every day.”
Lady Gaga concluded her speech by saying:
“To every artist who has ever been told they’re ‘different,’ ‘complicated’ or ‘too much,’ please, never change. Break the mold. The world doesn’t need another copy, it desperately needs your original.”
