Mar 17, 2022 by apost team

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples who have spent nearly four decades together. Hawn is an actress who is currently 76 years old, while Russell is an actor who is currently 70 years old. The pair have a beautiful, blended family together, full of talented individuals.

Hawn and Russell have an adorable and loving relationship, and their obvious affection for each other is more akin to a pair of teenage sweethearts than a couple that has been together for 39 years. While Hawn and Russell have both been married in previous relationships, they have not gotten married to each other; instead, they have enjoyed and are still currently enjoying a long-lasting and fulfilling relationship.

The couple is also well known for their big family, which consists of Hawn’s two children from her first marriage: Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson. Russell’s son Boston Russell is from his first marriage. The couple also have a joint son together named Wyatt Russell. Somewhat unsurprisingly, most of their children have followed their famous acting parents into show business and have also gone on to have children of their own – making Hawn and Rusell grandparents.

On March 17, 2022, Kurt Russell turned 71 years old. As in the past years, there is likely a celebration with the close-knit family as they get together to honor the man that has been a constant in their lives.

We'll take the opportunity to look back at Russell's illustrious career and heartwarming moments of his and Goldie Hawn's relationship while also wishing the star a very happy birthday!

Russell made his feature film debut in “It Happened at the World’s Fair,” although the role was uncredited. He finally got his name on the small screen in 1963 with a guest-starring role on the ABC series “Our Man Higgins.” Russell continued to get roles on a few different ABC series throughout the start of his career, ultimately leading him to work with a partnering network. He signed a 10-year contract with The Walt Disney Company in 1966, taking his career to the next level. While working with the popular company, he continued to get work in films and television shows through other networks.

Alongside his developing acting career, Russell also had a baseball career in the early 1970s. He played for a few teams, including the Bend Rainbows and the California Angels, now known as the Los Angeles Angels. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury to his throwing arm while playing in 1973, causing him to retire from the sport the same year. He then made a choice to return to acting, picking up jobs again easily.

He went on to work with director John Carpenter on a series of projects during the 1980s. He also made his return to Disney to provide his voice for the animated movie “The Fox and the Hound” in 1981. His career has continued all the way through the 2020s, acquiring a variety of roles and receiving favorable feedback and accolades along the way. Russell won his first award in 1997 for Favorite Actor in an Adventure/Drama at the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. One of his more recent awards was at the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards in 2016 for Best Actor. He was inducted into the Fangoria Horror Hall of Fame the same year.

Hawn and Russell initially met in 1966 on the set of "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band," but they didn't start a relationship until nearly two decades later when they worked together on the movie "Swing Shift" in 1983. It seemed their age difference was the problem when they first met, as Hawn said in a 2012 BBC interview:

"I was 21 and he was 16. I thought he was adorable, but he was much too young. Then, years later we met up again, and I remembered that I liked him very much when I first met him. We both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell."

After they finally got together, the couple became inseparable and even starred in more movies together, including 1987's "Overboard," which was a big hit, and more recently in "The Christmas Chronicles" in 2018 and "The Christmas Chronicles 2" in 2020, where fittingly, Russell played Santa Claus and Hawn played Mrs. Claus.

With a relationship as long as theirs, and in Hollywood, no less, it's clear that they're doing all the right things. In April 2020, Hawn opened up to People Magazine about her relationship with Russell and how he doesn't hold back from telling her how he really feels. She recalled, "The other night we were going to go have dinner. He looks at me and goes, ‘You’re unbelievable. He said 'I cannot believe how (beautiful) you look.’ He really appreciates that.” Hawn also said she appreciates that Russell doesn’t pretend “to be somebody else.”

In 2021, both Hawn and Kate Hudson posted a sweet birthday tribute to Russell. Hawn posted an old video of the dynamic couple joking about a possible marriage proposal, and it highlights just how funny and warm both of them are.

Russell’s stepdaughter, Kate Hudson, also chimed in with a birthday wish for her “Pa” and it is just as sweet as her mom’s tribute. Her post was an old throwback photograph of their entire family, and Hudson took the opportunity to elaborate on just how important Russell has been in her life.
