The television series “Sex and the City” was a huge hit during its six-season run from 1998 until 2004. The show helped catapult the career of many of its stars, including Sarah Jessica ParkerKim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. The series was so popular that it even launched two films following a similar storyline and has since gone on to even be revised into a new series called “And Just Like That…,” which premiered on HBO Max in December 2021.

With so much history behind the show, it only made sense that the cast grew to become great friends over the years, and some have even gone on to star in the new series together. Another actor who made an appearance in a handful of episodes in “And Just Like That…” was Willie Garson, who played the role of Stanford Blatch, Carrie’s (Parker) best friend outside of her initial girl group.

Garson was beloved on-screen and off and sadly passed away in September 2021 from pancreatic cancer. Since then, his legacy has continued to live on in the “Sex and the City” world, as well in the hearts of his former co-stars and friends, such as Davis.

In early December 2021, Davis and Nixon appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to talk about their current careers and the television show they were on together. They also talked about their late friend and all of the fond memories they shared with him. The conversation turned emotional pretty quickly, resulting in Davis breaking down in tears.

On Dec. 8, 2021, Davis and Nixon appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to talk about and promote the new HBO Max series “And Just Like That….” They were both in the original “Sex and the City” series and follow-up movies, making their return to the small screen as their original characters even more exciting.

Toward the end of the interview, Stephen Colbert brought up Garson, who appears in the first three episodes of the new series, according to Yahoo News. The actor starred in “Sex and the City,” as well as the film adaptions, and also had a long-lasting supporting role in the TV series “White Collar.” Gardson passed away in his home in Los Angeles on Sept. 21, 2021, from pancreatic cancer.

The women took a moment to remember the late actor and all of the wonderful moments they were able to share together. Speaking about Garson, Davis said, “Full of joy, and so incredibly brilliant and smart.” She explained that she and Nixon hadn’t known how sick Garson was at first, but that never stopped him from spreading joy wherever he went.

Nixon talked about how eventually the cast and crew found out about how sick Garson was, and they were able to truly cherish those final moments with him before he passed. Davis grew more and more emotional as the pair discussed their long-time friendship with the fallen actor and all of the beautiful moments they were fortunate enough to have together.

With tears in her eyes, Davis concluded, “But it’s hard. I wish he was here, you know?”

Nathen Garson, the actor’s son, announced his father’s passing on Instagram.

“Rest In Peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much. I’m so proud of you. I will always love you, but I think it’s time for you to go on an adventure of your own. You’ll always be with me,” Nathen Garson wrote alongside photos of his father.

Garson was born William Garson Paszamant in the Highland Park area of New Jersey on Feb. 20, 1964. It didn’t take long for him to find his passion, as Garson began acting at the age of 13, training at the Actors Institute of New York. Later, he graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in theater and psychology, only to land his first television role a few years later.

While he enjoyed success on multiple TV shows and in several films — from “White Collar” to “Little Manhattan — Garson was best known for his role in “Sex and the City” as Stanford Blatch, a gay talent agent.

“He was a good actor, and there was just something about him,” the filmmaker Bobby Farrelly said of Garson’s talent. “He was just one of those guys. When he comes in and reads, you’re like, ‘That guy, we gotta put him somewhere.’ A look is so much in acting — it’s about 92 percent of the battle in my opinion — and Willie Garson’s got that.”

Garson is survived by his son, Nathen, his brother, John Paszamant, and his sister, Lisa Clark.
