Kenny Rogers And Dottie West Perform "Every Time Two Fools Collide" Duet

Legendary country music singer Kenny Rogers recently passed away at the age of 81 from natural causes. His death was announced on his social media, reporting that he had passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in hospice care.

In the wake of his death, fans are resurfacing some of his greatest hits to honor the singer. One such hit is Every Time Two Fools Collide, a duet Rogers sang with the late Dottie West.

The duet might seem like it was destined to be sung by Rogers and West. Billboard, however, reports that according to lore, the track was initially written for West alone.

The decision to have the two sing the song together proved to be a good one, as the song reached no.1 on Billboard’s country charts in 1978.

The two would remain friends even after their collaboration. According to The Boot, Rogers even bought West a car when she fell on financial hardships and filed for bankruptcy in 1990. 

One year later, however, West would die in a tragic accident in that same car. On August 30, 1991, West was en route to the Grand Ol Opry with her 81-year-old neighbor George Thackton. The singer was reportedly in a hurry and asked Thackton to drive faster, which led him to lose control of his vehicle. 

West did not initially seem badly injured but suffered a ruptured spleen lacerated liver. She died days later in the hospital on the operating table during her third surgery.

With both Rogers and West no longer with us,  fans can still remember them through their iconic duet together.
