Kelly Osbourne Serves Ailing Dad Ozzy Constantly As 'In-House Waitress' As Family Reveals Uplifting Update On His Health

Over the years, Ozzy Osbourne’s health issues made him struggle to keep up with his life as a performer. But despite the complications, the star continued to stay strong without losing his passion for music. 

Through it all, Ozzy’s beloved family members, like his wife Sharon Osbourne and daughter Kelly Osbourne, stood by his side, making sure he enjoyed the best care. It has been some challenging years for Ozzy, who revealed he had Parkinson's disease in 2020. However, the rock star has been trying his best to fight the disease and live his life.

Speaking with the Daily Mail on Sept. 4, 2023, Sharon and Kelly opened up on how the star was faring concerning his ailment. Ozzy's family revealed the development of the singer's health. The mother-daughter duo gave detailed explanations of the “Black Sabbath” rocker’s activities and recuperation process.

The "Crazy Train" singer had made his mark on rock music. Ozzy has won five Grammy Awards, alongside more nominations, proving his musical prowess. Apart from the rock music legend's career, which brought him fame and recognition, he is also famous because of his unique family. The Osbourne family's reality show "The Osbournes," which premiered in 2002, made the family more famous. Ozzy tied the knot with his wife, Sharon, in Hawaii in 1982. The couple are still married, and they share six children.

The musician, who has been a household name for decades, was first diagnosed with a form of Parkinson's in 2019. The star suffered a bout of pneumonia and a fall at home before his diagnosis. However, it was not until 2020 that Ozzy announced on GMA that he had been diagnosed with a form of Parkinson's disease that affects the nerves in the body.

According to Mayo Clinic, Parkinson's disease is an illness that affects the nervous system and can largely impact a person's nerves. One of the earliest signs of the disease can be slow-starting tremors, stiffness and slowing of movement. Other symptoms of the disease are loss of automatic movement, speech changes, impaired balance, etc. All these symptoms are due to the fact that the disease affects the nerves of the patient.

The disease is not curable; however, patients can manage the disease with medical treatment such as prescription medicines, surgery and ultrasounds. At the time Ozzy revealed his disease to the public, his wife had to reassure the rock star's fans that the disease was "not a death sentence" for her husband. Sharon explained:

"There's so many different types of Parkinson's; it's not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body…"

The couple later shared health updates in September 2022, again appearing on GMA. They noted that his ailment was "slowly progressing," although he faced more challenges from the aftermath of his 2019 fall and 2022 surgery. Before revealing his health status, Ozzy had proved to be quite a fighter when he performed at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games in England.

Unfortunately, he could not continue his streak of performances in 2023 when he took to Instagram on July 10 of that year and announced he would not be performing at the Power Trip festival in October. Ozzy relayed that his body was “telling me that I’m not just ready yet.” He added that he did not want the first show he would organize for the first time in five years to be “half-a**ed.” Ahead of “The Osbournes Podcast” launch on Sept. 12, 2023, Kelly and Sharon gave fans insight into Ozzy's health situation.

Kelly made it known that her father, who was battling Parkinson's "and a terrible spine surgery” that could have left him paralyzed did not let the situation weigh him down. Kelly relayed, “he's still getting up every day, and still making music, and still doing singing lessons…" Sharon affirmed her daughter’s take, as she noted: 

“You know, he is living his life.”

The TV personalities shared that despite the singer’s health struggles, his sense of humor was still intact. Kelly, who has also been living with her parents, gave a vivid explanation:

“He's in a real alien kick right now. This morning, I came down to get a bottle for the baby because I was staying with my parents for the last couple of weeks and I found him watching live court hearings of the UFO trials. It's six o'clock in the morning!”

Kelly divulged that due to the living arrangement, she was of extra help to Ozzy. She noted: “Essentially, I am my dad's b**** in the sense. He wants me to do everything at any time of day.” Her mom attested to this by mentioning how Ozzy “will text Kelly to get him takeaway food sent over.” “The Talk” alum added, "She’s like his in-house waitress."

Kelly, who moved in with her parents alongside her little son, Sidney, relayed that the toddler’s presence has helped his grandfather. She noted it “really, really makes my dad happy.” She gushed: 

"You know, he has his papa minutes where he goes up in the morning and sits with my dad and every night before he goes to bed he sits with my dad. And he makes him laugh and it is just, they love each other." 

The "Fashion Police" alum welcomed her son, Sidney, with her boyfriend, Slipknot star Sid Wilson, in November 2022.
