Kate Middleton Takes Children Prince George And Princess Charlotte Shopping In London

Kate Middleton took her two older children out and about for a day in London, England on Monday, April 19. The family was spotted by a local Twitter user who was lucky enough to witness the sweet moment. Kate appeared to be trying to have a nice, normal day with seven-year-old Prince George and five-year-old Princess Charlotte as they went out and about in a few shops around the city.
Although the children were born into royalty, Kate and Prince William have worked to raise them modestly, trying to keep them out of the public eye. Whenever they are spotted, they look regal and flawless, carrying on the family legacy well. William is second in line of succession to the British throne, meaning Kate could potentially be a queen in the future. Kate is known for always being the spitting image of poise and class in everything she does, and that includes her moments mothering her children. While she was only spotted with George and Charlotte on Monday, Kate and William have one more child together, Prince Louis who is two years old.
The Duchess of Cambridge took a day off from her royal duties to spend quality time with two of her three children. According to Elle, the family had previously been spending time in their Norfolk country home, but returned to London since George and Charlotte’s schooling was set to begin again at St. Thomas’ Battersea. The group of three set off for the day to shop at a local stationary store, where Kate was able to teach her children some valuable lessons.
Kate’s Regal Mothering Habits
The royal family had also spent some time all together the past week due to the passing of Prince Philip, followed by his funeral this past Saturday, April 17. The service was small and intimate, as only 30 people were allowed to attend due to the current restrictions regarding the coronavirus pandemic.
Kate was the image of poise and class at the funeral with her choice of accessories. Kate’s four-stranded Japanese choker featured a diamond clasp and was absolutely colorless to complement the somber mood of the funeral. Kate had previously worn the same choker at a dinner celebrating Queen Elizabeth II and Philip’s 70th wedding anniversary. The same dangling earrings and matching choker pair were once also worn by the late Princess Diana.
According to The Court Jeweller, the tradition of wearing pearls during times of mourning dates all the way back to Queen Victoria. The general idea is that white or colorless jewels like diamonds and pearls don't sparkle as much as flashier colored jewels like emeralds and rubies. Not intended to catch the eye or steal the spotlight, wearing pearls or diamonds on top of the traditional dark and black mourning attire is custom for the Royal Family.
Trying to keep her children in higher spirits, Kate took them out for the day to go shopping on their own accord. According to Elle Magazine, the children were spending their own money and learning how to budget. They were seen shopping at a stationery store called Smiggle at the Kings Road location in London.

Twitter user @lexif1980 shared some quick details about the rare sighting of the duchess and her children at Smiggle. She wrote, “I’ve always been a Kate Middleton fan... today she was in one of my stores on the King's Road with George and Charlotte, what the team told me about how she was with them and how the kids were with each other makes me like her even more!”
She added:
“I wasn’t there but she talked to my team, the kids had a budget that they stuck to and paid for their own things with their own money. Just normal well brought up children and a normal parent trying to do the right thing and that’s just lovely!”
Kate and William have chosen to share only a few photos of their family, including the two previously mentioned children and their youngest, Louis. Although the family has gone through quite their share of loss and grief this past week, they also have some things to celebrate in the very near future. Queen Elizabeth II turned 95-years-old Wednesday, April 21, and Louis will be celebrating his third birthday Friday, April 23. Charlotte is also celebrating a birthday soon, with her sixth birthday falling on May 2.
All in all, it sounds like Kate, George and Charlotte had a fun day out together, doing their best to live a happy and normal life under the public eye. Kate showcased her wonderful parenting skills by teaching her children how to budget and letting them take control over their own spending.
