Actress Kate Hudson is known for her candidness about her personal life, including opening up about her relationship with her musician partner, Danny Fujikawa. The couple announced their engagement in September 2021 after several years of dating. Reflecting on her relationship, Hudson revealed how grateful she was to have found a partner who could “handle” her flirtatious nature.
Fujikawa is a co-founder of the record label Lightwave Records. He is also a long-time family friend of Hudson, as his step-sisters, actresses Sara and Erin Foster, are Hudson’s best friends. Hudson is a mother of three: her eldest, Ryder Robinson, born in 2004, whom she shares with her ex-husband, musician Chris Robinson; her second child, Bingham Bellamy, born in 2011, with her former fiancé, Matt Bellamy of the rock band Muse; and, her youngest, Rani Rose, born in 2018, with Fujikawa.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Dec. 4, 2017, the actress shared the story of their first meeting.
“The first time I met Danny I was 23 and enormously pregnant with Ryder. His step sisters are my best friends @sarafoster @erinfoster and so it goes we have been in the same circle for over a decade!” the caption read.
Hudson fondly recalled that Fujikawa took her on a hike a year before the post, which she initially thought was just a casual outing with a family friend. However, a simple hike quickly turned into an unexpected first date.

“No moves were made on this first date. In fact, it took months for him to make a first move! And as a kiss on this bridge would have been nice, the kiss a year later was so much sweeter.”
“So on our 15th year of knowing each other we were able to open our hearts to each other to feel so much pure love and it’s been truly incredible.! ❤️Happy first date anniversary baby. #LoveThisMan 🙏 #WhatAYear” she concluded.
In a conversation with Bustle, the “Almost Famous” star shared that her fiancé, Fujikawa, was completely accepting of her and is even perfectly okay with her playful flirting.
“I’m the biggest flirt on the planet,” she said, adding, “So I think anybody who’s ever been with me is very aware that I flirt with everybody – girls, boys. Thank God Danny is my partner. He can handle this. I met the right guy.”
Hudson expressed how much she enjoyed being surrounded by attractive people.
“I was like, ‘What a dream! We have so many beautiful men to work with every day,” she said, continuing, “I mean, on this set I was like, ‘How lucky am I? This is not difficult.’”
During the interview, Hudson also spoke about many of her “Running Point” costars, all of whom she found easy on the eyes. The Netflix comedy series, released on Feb. 27, 2025, also stars Justin Theroux, Max Greenfield, and Jay Ellis.
The actress revealed that she couldn’t help but swoon over castmate Toby Sandeman. She admitted:
“I remember there’s a scene where he comes in in this white suit, and he actually took my breath away. I literally was like, ‘Hi.’”
