Kate Hudson And Goldie Hawn Look Like Sisters While Sharing 'Perfect Day' Together

Actress Kate Hudson is perhaps best known for her roles as the enigmatic Penny Lane in "Almost Famous" (2000) and stubborn Andie Anderson in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" (2003). However, before experiencing commercial success, Hudson was already a recognizable face. As the daughter of actress Goldie Hawn and musician Bill Hudson  who was actually raised by action figure actor-turned-mom's-boyfriend Kurt Russell  she grew up in the relative limelight. Hudson would always draw comparisons to her star-studded parents, even though she crafted her own path through Hollywood.

On the influence of her famous family, she said in an interview, "I (don’t) want to be associated with my parents, (don’t) want the perception that I rode on somebody's coattails.” She continued, saying she has “to be very conscious of that.” With her breakthrough role as Penny the groupie, Hudson definitely proved that she could succeed independently.

While the mentions of her parents still come, Hudson remains unoffended. She often mentions her mother in particular as a source of inspiration and strength. In an interview, Hudson spoke of their relationship, saying, "I'd say my first teacher, who continues to always be my teacher, is my mom. That's the woman that I've learned the most from, and who I look up to, who has conducted her life in a way that I can look up to." Hudson also speaks fondly of Russell, whom she considers to be her father. The three, along with siblings Oliver Hudson and Wyatt Russell, form one of Hollywood's most beloved families. And now, the Hudson-Hawn women are working together.

In her new Stuart Weitzman 2022 campaign, Hudson is featured alongside Goldie Hawn, with both women looking like the perfect mother-daughter pair. In a 2022 Instagram post, Hudson wrote, "Guess who joined me" in the caption of the two together. She continued, "Hi mama!! Love every moment with you... including this love of shoes moment." Modeling the Weitzman Spring 2022 collection, they recreated Hudson's "perfect day" for the shoot. As returning brand ambassador, Hudson built on her association with the designer by the loop in her look-alike mother.

For the "Live Every Moment" campaign, the Weitzman and Hudson teams created a carefree, Californian scene big enough for and befitting of both talents. The campaign was designed to "(celebrate) life's everyday moments," which for Hudson and Hawn meant lounging in the garden in matching outfits and clowning around in classic cars or poolside  of course, always in heels. The shoe brand, on their Instagram, reiterated this sentiment, writing that the Hawn-Hudson "campaign highlights the message of finding joy and fun in life’s everyday moments — and the shoes to wear for it all."

Teaming up for the campaign made perfect sense to Hudson, given her mother "passed down her love of fashion and Stuart Weitzman shoes, which made it so much fun to work on this campaign together." She continued, saying, "My mom has always been an inspiration to me and, in so many ways, the foundation for my values. There's no doubt that I inherited her love for life and all of its experiences, big and small."

Hawn commented on her love of high heels, saying, "I actually have a separate area in my closet just for Stuart Weitzman shoes, so you know I was excited to be a part of the campaign." The 76-year-old actress continued, touching on the joy of working with her daughter. She gushed, "Spending the day with my daughter and watching her shine always brings me unimaginable joy."

Having modeled together in the past, particularly for People's The Beautiful Issue, the duo was comfortable sharing the lens. Hudson again spoke about her relationship with her mother. She said, “My mom gave me the floor to be able to feel confident enough to go out and feel like my life could be my own.” Reflecting on how Hawn impacted her decisions as a mother herself, Hudson said, “Mom was my greatest cheerleader. And it just made me think about (my daughter) Rani…going, ‘I hope I give her that kind of confidence,’ you know?”

Today, Hudson still remains in awe of her mother's continuing love for Russell, whom she's been with since 1983. While the two remain unmarried, Hudson sees Russell as a father figure. Inspired by their bond, she said, "To live up to that is really the goal." The couple raised Hudson and her siblings after Hawn's divorce in the 1980s. Together, the family exemplifies what it means to be a healthy, loving unit. Learning from her mother’s example, Hudson said she defines herself not by "a man" but by the joined "unit that we can create together."
