Kaley Cuoco Has Been Unlucky In Love — The Untimely End Of Both Her Marriages Surprised Her Fans

American actress Kaley Cuoco has seen her fair share of success. After landing her breakthrough role on ABC’s hit series “8 Simple Rules,” she went on to take numerous large roles, including the role she’s most known for, Penny on the CBS sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.”

After spending years in the acting sphere, she decided to try her hand in production. She served as both the star and the executive producer for HBO’s comedic thriller “The Flight Attendant.” She received numerous award nominations for her performance, including the Primetime Emmy Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Off-screen, Cuoco has made headlines for a much different reason—her love life. Cuoco began dating professional tennis player Ryan Sweeting when she starred on “The Big Bang Theory.” After three months of dating, the couple got engaged in September of 2013, and that December, they were married. Just 21 months later, the couple announced their separation, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

In late 2016, Cuoco began dating equestrian Karl Cook, son of billionaire Scott Cook. The couple got engaged on Cuoco’s 32nd birthday in November one year later, and they were married in June of 2018.

When the couple began dating, Cuoco was ecstatic. In a 2017 interview with US Weekly, Cuoco gushed about her new relationship.

“I couldn’t be happier,” Cuoco said. “I feel very, very lucky that I found someone like him.”

Fans were shocked when just three years after their marriage, the couple separated, leaving Cuoco in a lonely, albeit familiar place.

Kaley Cuoco’s first marriage with Ryan Sweeting happened very quickly. After only three months of dating, the couple got engaged and married within the same year. When the pair announced their split just 21 months later, fans were confused, and Cuoco was more than happy to provide an explanation.

In a 2018 interview with Cosmopolitan, Cuoco said that after their marriage, Sweeting changed. “I married someone the first time who completely changed,” Cuoco said. “The person I ended up with was not the person I originally met. And that wasn’t my fault—that was his.”

Cuoco said that she knew she deserved better than what Sweeting could give her. Even so, the relationship left her with a negative outlook on relationships and little hope for the future.

After her divorce, she was sure she would never be able to find love again. In the same interview, she said she couldn’t even think about the possibility of getting married for the second time. “I honestly thought I wouldn’t get married again,” Cuoco said. “My ex ruined that word for me.”

When she met equestrian Karl Cook in 2016, everything changed. She said she felt like she had gone through her divorce for a reason—to lead her to Cook. “I knew I just had to be patient,” Cuoco said. “I had to go through a lot of things, but it brought me to Karl.”

Initially, Cuoco wanted to take things slow. Even after their marriage in 2018, the couple didn’t move in together until two years later. Cuoco called their marriage unconventional, and said their relationship was unlike any other that she had experienced.

In an interview with E! News, Cuoco explained their dynamic. "You know, we're not together every single day and I think, personally, it's important, it works well for us,” Cuomo said.

Over the course of their relationship, Cuoco and Cook were anything but private. They frequently gushed about their love on social media and in interviews.

In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, Cuoco posted a photo to celebrate her three-year anniversary with Cook. The caption read, "2 years to the day before we got married and now 3 years married!"

Just a few days later on July 4, 2021, Cuoco posted a photo to announce that the couple had adopted a dog together. The caption reads, “When you know you know! Welcome to the family , Larry!”

By all accounts, the couple was happy together and fully in love. But just a few months later, Cuoco and Cook announced their separation and eventual divorce.

This time, Cuoco’s reaction to her relationship’s untimely ending was much different. Instead of expressing anger toward Cook in interviews, the pair said the split was amicable and they wished one another the best.

In September 2021, the couple released an exclusive statement to People that said, “Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions.”

They also emphasized that they wanted to keep the details of their split private. In the same statement, they said that they “made this decision together through an immense amount of respect and consideration for one another and request that you do the same in understanding that we will not be sharing any additional details or commenting further.”
