"Bridge Over Troubled Water," written by Paul Simon and originally performed by Simon and Garfunkel, is a classic American popular song.

Released in 1970, it is Simon and Garfunkel's biggest hit and is popular throughout the world.

A little over a week ago, Josh Groban decided to release his own rendition of the song, which has been receiving rave reviews.

Groban, a multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, is admired on the national stage for his classically-trained voice. He is seen by some as a tenor and others as a baritone, giving him a certain level of versatility. In addition, he is able to cover a wide range of material, ranging from popular to operatic music.

Groban is a good candidate to perform this song, as he was heavily influenced by Paul Simon, knows him well and even performed the song with him. In fact, it's really more of a surprise that he hasn't recorded the song until now.

"Been singing this song solo, with duet partners and even sang it with Paul Simon once," Groban reflects. "First time recording it properly all these years. It's a song and a message that has gotten me through a lot. A behemoth of a song to sing, and we call it the 'kitchen sink' on the album because we went there."

Featuring a choir backing him up, Groban's studio version showcases his superb voice, excellent intonation and phrasing skills. The backing band and vocalists are the perfect complement to his exceptionally solid vocalizing.

This song can be found on Josh Groban's newly-released album, Bridges. The album features many of Josh Groban's compositions as well as an array of special guests including Andrea Bocelli, Sarah McLachlan and Jennifer Nettles (of Sugarland).

The deluxe version also features Groban's take on Billy Joel's "She's Always a Woman."
