Jon Cryer Finds Happiness In Second Marriage To Lisa Joyner After Ugly Divorce With Sarah Trigger

Like his character on the hit show “Two and a Half Men,” Jon Cryer had a complicated first marriage that almost allegedly ended his life. Thankfully, he found another chance at love and happiness with his second wife, Lisa Joyner.
Cryer was first married from 1999 to 2004 to Sarah Trigger, a former actress from London, and they have a son, Charlie Austin, who was born in 2000. While Cryer’s career was going well because of his top-rating TV show, Trigger’s career stalled. He earned more than half a million dollars per episode while she had bit roles.
Upon their divorce, Trigger asked Cryer for $10,000 in monthly child support, but she had 65 percent custody of their son. Trigger eventually remarried and had another son, Alex, with her second husband, David Dickey.
However, following Trigger’s arrest in 2009 for suspected child abuse of Alex, Cryer asked the court for full custody of Charlie. He also sought to stop child support payments to his ex-wife, but the court denied the request because it directly affected their son. Instead, the actor was ordered to provide reduced child support payments of $8,000. On the other hand, Trigger accepted the responsibility of endangering Alex and got into therapy, as mandated by the court.
After the custody and child support battle, Cryer went public in 2010 with allegations that his ex-wife made an attempt on his life by hiring a hitman to kill him. While Trigger denied the allegations, the FBI conducted an investigation into the actor’s claims but found no conclusive evidence that Trigger was guilty.

Amid a messy court battle with his first wife, Cryer met Joyner, but he took six weeks to ask her out. His wife said in a 2015 interview about Cryer taking his time with her:
“I thought he was going to be my new best gay friend. We got to know each other. And had it not happened that way, I don’t think we’d be together.”
The couple tied the knot in 2007 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and then adopted a daughter, Daisy, in 2009. The pair do not have any biological children, but their relationship has remained strong and steadfast over the years.
In 2020, Cryer shared on Twitter that he lost his wedding ring one rainy night at Cooper’s Park in Vancouver and got “choked up” about it.
“My wife and I have been married since 2007 and it’s hard to be away (from) each other,” Cryer said. “With quarantine in effect, I can’t travel back and forth to see her while I’m shooting. Which sucks spectacularly. Losing my ring is making the pain more acute.”
The actor turned to Craigslist for help and found Chris Turner of The Ring Finders, who arrived with a metal detector. Turner wasn’t optimistic about finding the ring in a busy park, but Cryer was a lucky guy. They spotted the ring three meters away from where Cryer was standing when he lost it.
Joyner said finding the ring “saved a marriage,” and it made her love her husband even more because he made an effort to find the ring again. She said:
“That ring meant so much. It has so many memories behind it.”
