One of Hollywood's iconic actors is "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp. He has appeared in several of director Tim Burton's films throughout his illustrious career, including "Edward Scissorhands," "Sleepy Hollow," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," and "Alice in Wonderland." Depp is widely regarded as one of the world's most famous movie stars and was listed as the highest-paid actor by Guinness World Records in 2012.
As his career flourished, Johnny Depp was considered one of the most promising heartthrobs of the 1990s and has been linked to various women. From 1983 to 1985, he was married to make-up artist Lori Allison. Afterward, he also dated Jennifer Grey and Sherilyn Fenn. In the early 90s, he proposed to his "Edward Scissorhands" co-actor Winona Ryder. The two broke up eventually, and he proceeded to date model Kate Moss.
After a relationship with Kate Moss, Depp met Vanessa Paradis, who became the mother of her two children – Lily-Rose Depp and Jack Depp. The couple's marriage, however, did not flourish and ended in 2012, a year after Johnny Depp began dating Amber Heard. The two were wed in 2015 but ended a year after Heard asked for a divorce.
Heard and Depp's divorce was perhaps one of the most controversial divorces in the entertainment industry. This was because a highly-publicized defamation trial took place after causing an unprecedented war between Depp's most loyal followers and feminists backing Heard.
In the end, Heard won the defamation case in the United Kingdom, while the sensational trial in the United States saw Depp's triumph. In a CNN article dated Jun. 13, it was revealed that Depp is finally at the phase where he has to select the charities that would receive the $1 million settlement he got from Heard. Keep on reading to learn more.
More information regarding the past relationship between Depp and Heard has come to light over recent years. As the whirlwind of a sensational trial took place in the United States, several issues about Depp and Heard's issues with each other came to light.
As of June 2022, Depp and Heard's trial ended. The trial took place from April 2022 to June 2022. On June 1, 2022, the jury found that three statements of Heard's statements against Depp had been defamation. Heard appealed the verdict, but in December 2022, both parties reached a settlement, and Depp's lawyers revealed that Depp would receive $1 million from Heard.
Since then, Depp has embarked on a career comeback; he reunited with his band, Hollywood Vampires, and even received a 7-minute standing ovation at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival for his major film comeback in "Jeanne du Barry."
As for Heard, she relocated to Spain, and a source close to the actress hinted that she had plans to raise her daughter away from the public eye. As for returning to Hollywood, the source had this to say:
"I don't think she is in any hurry to return to work or to Hollywood, but she will probably come back when the time is right for the right project."
She has since done a handful of interviews reflecting on the trial and her past relationship with Depp. During a tell-all interview with Savannah Guthrie, Heard revealed that she still had love for Depp, as per TODAY.
Guthrie explained that in a statement, Heard had said, "I still have love for Johnny..Absolutely. I love him. I loved him with all my heart."

While Heard has flown under the radar and away from the public eye in Spain, the aftermath of the trial still continues. In a recent CNN report, a source close to Depp has revealed that the $1 million settlement that Depp received from Heard will be going to selected charities.
Notably, in December 2022, both parties reached a settlement resulting in Depp only receiving a $1 million settlement from Heard. Supposedly, 10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million dollars in punitive damages were asked, but Heard's legal counsel appealed it.
According to a TMZ source, Depp has already named the five organizations/charities that will share the whopping settlement. Each organization will be receiving $200,000, split evenly among the five.
The Make-A-Film Foundation will be one of the lucky charities; It's an organization that grants film wishes to children and teenagers who have serious or life-threatening medical conditions partnering with famed production crews to create short film legacies. The Painted Turtle Camp, on the other hand, is a camp catering to children with serious mental health conditions, giving them a "chance just to be kids in a safe and inclusive environment."
Depp will also be donating to the Red Feather Development Group, an organization empowering Native Americans to create sustainable and healthy homes living in their selected American reservations.
The Tetiaroa Society will also be receiving a grant from Depp. It is a non-profit organization ensuring island and coastal communities are as rich as their past. It seeks to strengthen their resilience to global change by restoring their ecosystems and preserving their cultures.
Lastly, The Amazonia Fund Alliance will get the remaining $200 grand from Depp. It is an alliance of non-profit organizations and sustainability-driven pioneering companies preserving the indigenous communities throughout the Amazon Rainforest in Northwestern Brazil.
