One of Hollywood's iconic actors is "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp. He has appeared in several of director Tim Burton's films throughout his illustrious career, including "Edward Scissorhands," "Sleepy Hollow," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Alice in Wonderland." Depp is widely regarded as one of the world's most famous movie stars and was listed as the highest-paid actor by Guinness World Records in 2012.
Depp dropped out of high school and began his career as a musician before moving into acting. He made his movie debut in 1984 with the horror film "A Nightmare on Elm Street." The actor then became a household name with his success on the television series "21 Jump Street." Some of the star's other notable films include "What’s Eating Gilbert Grape," "Finding Neverland" and "Donnie Brasco."
In his personal life, Depp has been married and divorced twice. He has also had long-term relationships with other women, including Winona Ryder, Kate Moss and Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his two children. Paradis and Depp were together from 1998 to 2012.
Depp has received negative publicity, especially after his private life started unfolding in public. In 2015, he married actress Amber Heard, but she filed for a divorce in 2016, and more information regarding their volatile relationship has since become public knowledge due to the lengthy legal battles that followed.
After a tumultuous past few years, Depp has now reached a new point in his life. Not only have his recent troubles ended, but a comeback is also on the horizon. Depp is making his return to the big screen and is also embarking on a new chapter with his band, the Hollywood Vampires.

When he was just a teenager, Depp dreamed of becoming a rockstar. He initially dropped out of high school to pursue a career in the music industry, but unfortunately, his band ended up breaking up. However, Depp’s talent never faded, and he is now in a band called the Hollywood Vampires alongside Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Tommy Henriksen.
Before becoming the legend he is today, though, Depp had to start out somewhere, and he changed directions from music to acting. Soon enough, Depp was going out for auditions and successfully landed the part of the main character's boyfriend in Wes Craven's 1984 classic horror film "A Nightmare on Elm Street." Even though Depp hadn't had acting experience, he continued to impress casting agents and directors and landed more and more roles. By the end of the 1980s, Depp was a certified teen idol, thanks in part to his role in the TV series "21 Jump Street."
However, being a teen sensation wasn't exactly the lifestyle Depp expected to live, so he began pursuing roles that he found more interesting. As the established star began working with Burton, his resumé became more eclectic with each passing film. Many of their films together went on to find great success and are still considered cult classics today.
Depp faced some career setbacks in the late 2010s and early 2020s due to a myriad of reasons. As a result, Depp didn't act in many major films for some time, and it was unclear which direction his career was headed.

In January 2022, Variety reported that Depp was scheduled to star as French King Louis XV in an upcoming film currently titled "Jeanne du Barry." The movie, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, where the star received a warm welcome, marked the comeback of Depp to the big screen.
On top of that, the star never lost his passion for music and has continued pursuing it as a hobby and part-time gig throughout. He even celebrated his 59th birthday on June 9, 2022, by doing something he loved: performing music.
As The York Press reported, Depp joined his friend and fellow musician Jeff Beck for a performance in York, England. Hundreds of fans took the opportunity to see the star perform and wished him a very happy birthday. Depp took some more time to greet fans, sign autographs and receive well-wishes after the performance before his security finally hurried him along.
On June 22, 2022, the Hollywood Vampires announced their embarkment on tour across Germany and Luxembourg. They also teased the idea of more developments in the future, like potential new music or additional dates, with the Instagram caption: “Keep an eye out for more to come…”
The following day, Billboard reported that Depp and Beck released a cover of the Beach Boys’ song “Caroline, No.” It was featured on their cover album, “18,” released in mid-July 2022. Depp spoke about collaborating with Beck and said:
“It’s an extraordinary honor to play and write music with Jeff. One of the true greats and someone I am now privileged enough to call my brother.”
While there’s no telling what else is in Depp’s future, one thing is for sure — he has continued on working on making a grand comeback.

On June 14, 2023, it was reported Heard had finally paid the $1 million she owed him over their bitter legal battle. The 60-year-old pledged to split the payment across five charities, namely the Make-A-Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Tetiaroa Society, and Amazonia Fund Alliance. A day after the announcement, Depp was seen heading back to his comfort zone – music.
Depp joined his famous bandmates on stage at the Hellfest Festival in Clisson, France, and looked totally at ease. The star was in full rockstar mode and looked the part in a black-and-white plaid blazer over a black shirt and matte black pants. A plethora of chains around his neck, bracelets around his wrists and rings on his fingers gave the outfit the punk-rock vibe Depp is more than capable of pulling off. He topped the look off with an eclectic multi-colored rastacap and dark sunglasses.
In a video posted to the band’s official Instagram account on June 18, 2023, Depp was seen alongside his bandmates gearing up for their performance backstage. Cooper, too, was decked in full rockstar gear, with his eyes lined heavily for his typical stage look.
Only days earlier, during a performance in Romania on June 9, 2023, Depp was serenaded by the crowd, who sang his “happy birthday” to mark his milestone 60th. In a clip, Depp thanked the fans with his hand on his heart and said, “Wow, that’s the largest happy birthday song I’ve ever heard. Beautiful. Thank you.”
