John Travolta Thanks His Fans For Support Following Wife Kelly Preston’s Death

In light of Thanksgiving, actor John Travolta, 66, took to Instagram last Friday, November 27th, to express his gratitude for the support and encouragement he has received this year after the passing of his wife, Kelly Preston. Preston died aged 57 after a two-year battle with breast cancer.
John Travolta, 66, posted a video message addressing his followers on Instagram showing his appreciation for the support following the death of his wife of 29 years, Kelly Preston.
Said the Grease actor in the video: "I just wanted to take this moment to thank each and every one of you for supporting me in such an incredible way this year. Happy Thanksgiving, and always love.”
According to CNN, Preston died aged 57 after battling breast cancer for two years. She leaves behind her husband, Travolta, and their children, Ella Bleu, 20, and Benjamin, 10.
Travolta made the announcement on his Instagram one day after her death. Alongside a picture of Preston smiling, he wrote:
"It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered."

Their daughter, Ella, wrote a post of her own on Instagram with the same picture of Preston that Travolta used regarding her mother’s passing, praising her for being “courageous, strong, beautiful and loving.”
“Anyone who is lucky enough to have known you or to have ever been in your presence will agree that you have a glow and a light that never ceases to shine and that makes anyone around you feel instantly happy," she wrote.
"Thank you for being there for me no matter what. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your help and thank you for making this world a better place. You have made life so beautiful and I know you will continue to do so always. I love you so much mama," she continued.
Ella shared another post on October 14th, this time in dedication to what would have been Preston’s 58th birthday. She wrote “Happy Birthday Mama, I love you so much” next to a throwback picture of the mother and daughter in pink.
Travolta and Preston first met in the late '80s at a screen test for their 1989 film The Experts, but as Preston was married to her first husband Kevin Gage, and it took a few more years for them to get together. But eventually in September 1991 the couple had tied the knot, first in France followed by a second wedding in Florida.

We’re practicing right now. This could be barefoot and pregnant for the next 10 years.” In April 1992, their first child, Jett was born. Then eight years later, they welcomed their first daughter, Ella.
But tragedy struck during a family holiday in the Caribbean back in 2009. Jett, who was just 16 at the time, died after suffering a major seizure.
It was an event that Travolta said was "the worst thing that's ever happened in my life" according to the BBC. Jett had been diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, a condition that affects the lymph nodes as well as the autoimmune and central nervous system, when he was just two years old.

Speaking with PEOPLE magazine at the time, Travolta said that their new son had "given the house a renewed spirit and purpose." On November 24th, 2020, the Hairspray star shared a sweet picture of him hugging Benjamin for his 10th birthday. He wrote in the post: “Happy 10th birthday my wonderful Ben! I love you!”
One month after Preston’s death, Travolta broke his silence online with a bittersweet Instagram video featuring his daughter. In the video, the two are seen dancing together at a bar. with piano music playing in the background.
“My daughter @ella.travolta and I dancing in memory of momma,” Travolta captioned the post. “One of Kelly’s favorite things, dancing with me.”
