John Travolta is a legendary actor, dancer, and singer who has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry for over four decades. Born on Feb. 18, 1954, in Englewood, New Jersey, Travolta was the youngest of six children. His father was a semi-professional football player, and his mother was an actress and singer.

John's interest in performing arts began at a young age, and he made his first debut on Broadway at the age of 18. His first major film role was in the horror-comedy film "Carrie," which was a commercial success. His breakout role was in the iconic disco film "Saturday Night Fever," where he played the lead character, Tony Manero. The film was a massive commercial and critical success and earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.

John's career continued to soar, and he went on to star in a string of successful films, including "Grease" and "Pulp Fiction," which earned him another Academy Award nomination. His versatility as an actor and his ability to seamlessly transition between dramatic and comedic roles cemented his position as one of the most bankable stars of his generation.

John's personal life has been marred by personal tragedies over the past few years. His wife, Kelly Preston, who he married in 1991 and with whom he has three children, passed away in 2020 after a battle with breast cancer.

Despite facing personal tragedies, Travolta has continued to pursue his passion for acting and has remained a beloved figure in Hollywood. He has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, reportedly sources close to the star have revealed that Preston's passing may have affected John more than people think.

John has been through a lot in the past couple of years. He's starred in some big movies and television shows like "Gotti," "Savages" and "American Crime Story," but he has also suffered tremendous heartbreak. In 2009, the star lost his son, Jett, while on vacation in the Bahamas before losing Preston to cancer in July 2020. Since then, John has made a few public mentions of the family's loss. He did, however, share news of his wife's passing in a heartbreaking post on Instagram.

"It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. … Kelly's love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don't hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal," he wrote.

Naturally, the family has been grieving, but slowly and steadily, they've been showing that they're moving on in life with Preston's memory firmly in their minds. John has always been a proud dad, and over the last couple of years, he has proven himself to be a true family man who's always there for his two children, Ella and Benjamin.

But John's love for Preston remains. On every one of her birthdays and each Mother's Day since her passing, John has shared posts stating how much he still loves and misses her.

Since Preston's passing, reports have surfaced that John refuses to open himself up to new relationships and has shot down suggestions from friends to start dating again.

In February 2023, Radar reported a source close to John as saying the "Get Shorty" actor has not gotten over his wife's passing and refused to even "look" at other women.

"John still considers himself married and says he will stay loyal to Kelly until the day he dies," the insider told the outlet.

"He talks about Kelly constantly. Their lives were so intertwined, it's very hard for him to go on," the source added.

The insider claimed to Radar Online that the star isn't even remotely interested in seeing other people.

"It's hands-off when it comes to dating. As far as he is concerned, Kelly will always be the only woman for him," the source shared.

"It's sad, but he's essentially taken a vow of celibacy for the rest of his life. He simply can't wrap his head around ever falling in love again. He says it would be a betrayal of Kelly's memory," the source revealed.

For John, the pain of his wife's passing is something he said he is still dealing with. In 2021, he told Esquire Mexico, as reported by People, in a rare interview he believed everyone has their own ways of coping with loss.

"Grief is personal and finding your own path is what could lead to healing. It's different than someone else's journey," he said. "The most important thing you can do to help people going through grief is allow them the space to live it and not complicate their journey with your own."
