Former president Jimmy Carter spoke about how he has come to terms with death. He spoke about it this past weekend at a Sunday church service. The 99-year-old recently suffered a fall in which he suffered a minor pelvic fracture, however, the injury has not seemed to keep the 39th president from participating in events.
This past Sunday Carter talked about his 2015 cancer battle during a church service this past Sunday in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. "I assumed, naturally, that I was going to die very quickly," Carter said according to CNN. The activist was told by doctors that the cancer had spread to his brain.
"I obviously prayed about it. I didn't ask God to let me live, but I asked God to give me a proper attitude toward death. And I found that I was absolutely and completely at ease with death," he said.

The humanitarian also added that he didn't care if he lived or passed away. "It didn't really matter to me whether I died or lived. Except I was going to miss my family, and miss the work at the Carter Center and miss teaching your Sunday school service sometimes and so forth. All those delightful things."
However, Carter would go on to defeat cancer later that year after he received experimental treatment.
Carter recently turned 99-years-old making him the older living former US president after George H. W. Bush passed away last year. He and his wife Rosalynn also hold the title for the longest-married presidential couple a title that was also held by the Bush's before their passing.
In October, Carter suffered a fall at his Georiga home -- the third fall this year. The fall resulted in a minor pelvic fracture but only weeks later Carter was up again and teaching Sunday School in his hometown.
During a news conference after Carter defeated brain cancer, the former president said, that his fate was "in the hands of God" and he promised to continue teaching Sunday school at his church in Georgia "as long as I'm physically able."
