Actress Jennifer Garner was born in April 1972 in Houston, Texas and grew up in West Virginia. After studying theatre at Denison University, she began acting as an understudy at the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City. Getting her on-screen debut in 1995, Garner starred in “Zoya” in 1995. Garner found her first wave of success from the ABC television series “Alias,” which aired from 2001 until 2006. During this time, she also began to make a real name for herself in the industry by starring in a variety of highly successful films, including “13 Going On 30,” “Daredevil” and “Elektra.” She had formed a friendship with Affleck during their time together while filming “Pearl Harbor” in 2001 and “Daredevil” in 2003, before beginning their romantic relationship shortly after.
Garner has had three children — son Samuel Garner Affleck, and daughters Violet Anne Affleck and Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck — with prominent actor and director Ben Affleck, whom she was married to from 2005 to 2018. Although the pair announced their intention to split in 2015, just three years after Samuel was born, the two movie stars are often pictured together with their kids, making it seem like family is important to both. While Garner is reportedly single now, she focuses on her kids, career, and new work endeavors.
Outside of her work as an actress, Garner has been known for her charitable work, namely turning every opportunity into some way to give back. In April 2022, the star turned 50 and she repurposed her splashed-out celebration as a chance to do some good.

Garner is no stranger to mixing the personal with the charitable. In 2017, the star announced that she bought a piece of property that meant a good deal to her family. Her grandfather originally bought the piece of land in Oklahoma back in 1936, where Garner’s mother would eventually grow up. Decades later, the actress has turned the farm into one of her most successful projects.
The land gave rise to Garner's Once Upon A Farm project, where Garner created a haven of green. On the property, family grows organic produce for Garner's children's food label. To explain the mission of this unique little homestead, the company's website says, "Once upon a time… we dreamed of bringing baby food back to the roots with organic fruits and veggies harvested from local farmers, blended with love, and served fresh from the fridge."
Garner seems to draw a lot of her inspiration from her own mother and the time she spent on the farm. In an interview with Town & Country, Garner explained, “My mom grew up on a farm in Oklahoma. Her mom was brilliant at canning, at making something stretch, at finding a way to make it work."
These roots seem to have encouraged a strong work ethic in the actress. She also credits her family with supporting her acting career, despite it being such a long shot. “They never tried to define my life for me … My mom was just like, ‘Go ahead and study what you love. Then you’ll figure it out.’ ”

Garner clearly hasn't forgotten those humble lessons even as she's become a successful actress and a household name. For her fiftieth birthday, instead of merely splashing out on an over-the-top party, the actress used the day- which fell on Easter weekend- to do a little good.
Before boogying down to the Osborne Brothers' "Rocky Top," Garner had family and friends fill "5,000 backpacks each with enough food to feed a family of four for a program called Blessings in a Backpack."
However, the celebration wasn't all work. The actress also admitted to letting what was initially perhaps a simpler family gathering snowball into a blowout. Recalling the event, she said, “I basically had a wedding for myself … I was so shocked that I was doing it.”
While Garner appears quite busy with her charities and her family, the question still remains whether or not the actress will return to Hollywood in some big way.
In considering her future as an actress, Garner said honestly, “I don’t know … Because I’m not ambitious in that way. Do I feel I’m owed some kind of accolades or something? Not really. I’ve kind of played it differently. How lucky am I that I’ve gotten to work all this time and raise a family? It’s more that the work truly comes from a place of love. I love being with a crew. I love being part of a crew. And I love when I get to be on set. It’s different from anywhere else. It’s just mine.”
