Jennifer Aniston Was Moved To Tears At ‘Friends’ Co-Star Courteney Cox’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame Ceremony

Courteney Cox rose to fame as the hilarious Monica Geller on the beloved sitcom "Friends," which aired from 1994 to 2004. Even after the series ended, Cox continued to be a big player in Hollywood. She starred in the series "Dirt" and "Cougar Town," and has appeared in many movies over the years, including the "Scream" franchise.

Outside of her acting work, Cox is known for her close friendship with "Friends" alum Jennifer Aniston. The two often show their support for one another's work. 

In her personal life, Cox was married to fellow actor David Arquette for over 11 years. The couple got married in June 1999 and had a daughter named Coco Arquette in 2004. Coco now practically looks like her mother's twin.

However, sadly Cox's relationship with David didn't last, and the two finalized their divorce in 2013 after three years of separation. Nevertheless, they remain close and are still business partners together in their production company, Coquette Productions.

In a candid interview with New Beauty, Cox opened up about the work she'd had done, which she explained was a result of "trying so hard to keep up" as a woman getting older in Hollywood. In the past, Cox also got candid about what she felt when she was the only actress among the “Friends” cast who did not receive any Primetime Emmy nomination. 

Despite this, Cox remained close to her on-screen friends, Lisa Kudrow and her daughter’s godmother, Jennifer Aniston. 

The two actresses were side by side when Cox received her very own Hollywood Walk of Fame star last Feb. 27, 2023. Aniston, who was very supportive of her best friend, Cox, was even snapped shedding joyful tears with Coco, as she celebrated her friend’s accomplishment. 

Cox, 59, had been very busy since departing the role of the perfectionist Monica Geller on “Friends.” She is continuing her work as a film and television actress. Cox is also behind an upcoming adaptation of the successful Netflix documentary series “Last Chance U,” which will see her both perform in the main role and as a producer. She has reprised one of her iconic roles in film in the slasher film franchise “Scream.” 

Aniston, on the other hand, has gained the most success after “Friends.” She went on to bag bigger roles that continue to highlight her acting prowess and commendable comedic timing. Among the films she has starred in are: “Bruce Almighty,” “We’re The Millers” and “Marley & Me," among others. The most recent film she worked on was with Adam Sandler in the Netflix hit “Murder Mystery,” and she's currently working on the film’s sequel to be released in 2023. 

The two had remained close friends throughout the years, along with Kudrow. They even reunited briefly On May 27, 2021, for a one-time television special, “Friends: The Reunion,” which aired on HBO Max. 

After their highly-anticipated reunion, the girls of the friend group reunited again on Cox’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony where Kudrow and Aniston were present, along with Coco, Cox’s daughter, Entertainment Tonight reported. 

In Kudrow and Aniston’s joint speech, the two recalled their initial meeting with Cox, who was the most famous among the pack before filming “Friends.”

"We're very honored to be here today to speak on your behalf, as your coworkers, friends, family, your sisters. We've known you for a very long time," Aniston said, with Kudrow continuing, "It's been that way since we met almost 30 years ago."

Continuing their speech, Aniston described that being friends with Cox also meant being family with her, as she deserved to be credited with how she keeps her friends last. 

"From the beginning of when we met her, she was immediately inclusive, warm, loving, interested in everything about you. And I was really nervous to meet her because I was a huge fan,” she added. “She instilled into all of us to support each other and to love one another and that actors need to support and love one another." 

Cox was delighted and touched by her friends’ words. As she gave her own acceptance speech, she also looked back on how her journey has been both as an actress and as a person. 

"Friends taught me the importance of camaraderie and really sticking together. These friendships were at the most important time in my life, and we went through so many things together," she shared. 

For Cox, it was nice to work with people who she could comfortably bounce ideas off one another and who wanted the best for everybody. She even referenced their sitcom’s iconic theme song, “I'll Be There For You," which she admitted to having taught her of the idea of “being there for each other.”

Cox, who was emotional in her speech, also added that she was proud to be called her daughter Coco’s mother. 

Aniston, who was sitting beside her goddaughter Coco, was nothing but proud of her friend’s achievements. She was even snapped crying as Cox graciously gave her speech through the rain. 

In an Instagram post, Aniston shared a carousel of photos of the three of them, one with the plaque, a photo of them hugging after the speech, and a snippet from a “Friends” episode where they were hugging each other too.
