Jennifer Aniston's Throwback Pic Shows She Inherited Her Father's Eyes

Family resemblance can help strengthen the ties between generations. While looking at a familiar smile or build won't give one instant access to thoughts, feelings, or motivations, it can increase closeness and is just plain fun. The following celebrity family members demonstrate how this can happen.

At 51 years of age, Jennifer Aniston's eyes look so much like her father's. This resemblance was first spotted very early in her life. It can be spotted in an early childhood photograph with her dad that she posted to her Instagram account in 2019.

Long before Jennifer Aniston graced television screens everywhere with her megahit, Friends, her father was an established presence on daytime television. The elder Aniston entertained audiences with his regular role on Days of Our Lives. John Aniston portrayed Victor Kiriakis on that show.

Jennifer Aniston and her father, have had a complicated relationship throughout most of her life, however. When she was 10 years old, John Aniston left her mother for another woman, effectively abandoning the family, reports Magzter

“I went to a birthday party,” Jennifer, recalled in an older interview with Rolling Stone according to Magzter, “and when I came back, my mother said, ‘Your father’s not going to be around here for a little while.’ She didn’t say he was gone forever. I don’t know if I blocked it, but I just remember sitting there, crying, not understanding that he was gone. All of a sudden my father wasn’t there. And he was gone for about a year.”

They reconnected once again a year after his departure but when Aniston shot up into international superstardom after her role on Friends, her familial relationships took a hit. She became distant from her father once again, and she also cut ties with her mother, Nancy Dow, after she wrote a tell-all book about her daughter.

While she reconnected with her mother shortly before her death in 2016, she remained largely estranged from her father for a long time, reports Magzter. Earlier this year, however, after the coronavirus pandemic took over the world, Jennifer Aniston reached out to him again for a more substantial bond.

According to Daily Mail, a source close to John Aniston said, “'Jennifer didn't speak to him for ages. But since the coronavirus crisis, she has been on the phone almost every day. And not just brief conversations. It's like she has realized life is very short and she wants her relationship with John to be the best it can be. He's thrilled that they have reconciled.

The source also said, “They have gone through long periods where Jen didn't talk to him. John's a proud man but not emotional. He's never understood how volatile Jen's emotions have been. But since the coronavirus crisis, she's been an amazing daughter… They obviously can't see each other but they have spoken more in the past few weeks than they ever have.” Though the relationship has not always been easy for the two of them, they are finding ways to make it work.

A Treasured Family Photograph

In December 2019, Jennifer posted an old photograph to her Instagram account. The holidays were coming up. Such a piece of nostalgia was a big hit with her fans, like many father-daughter pictures except for one surprising feature that set off a storm of social media commentary.

Just a Girl and her Daddy

In the picture, little preschool-aged Jennifer was in a cute little gingham sundress. The famous family duo was outdoors in the summer, flanked by blossoms and greenery. She had her arms around her daddy's neck.

After All These Years

Aniston also posted a more recent picture with her father. After decades of reflection and personal work, it looks like Jennifer might have forgiven him for abandoning her as a child. She is still her father's daughter.

Family resemblances such as these are a great way to feel a bond between parent and child sometimes: you can see a little bit of yourself in another and vice versa. It reminds us that we are connected through things that we cannot always control and that we cannot erase our familial bonds so easily.

After a glance at their faces, their resemblance is obvious. Both Anistons share the same eyes. There is no doubt that she is his little girl.

The Aniston's are proof that family resemblance lasts despite our actions and feelings.
