Cherilyn Sarkisian is a singer and actress popularly known as Cher and often regarded as the goddess of pop. The singer has received praise for her talent and powerful contralto voice, which stands her out among others. For over six decades, she has established herself in what was once a male-dominated industry.

The singer stepped into the spotlight in 1965 alongside her ex-husband, Sonny Bono, when the duo known as Sonny & Cher released their song "I Got You Babe," which peaked at number one on the US and UK charts. Following this, she released her first solo singles, including "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" and "You Better Sit Down Kids.”

Cher is also the only artist in the world to have had a single in the number 1 spot on the Billboard chart in each of the past six decades. Some of her top singles include "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves," "Half-Breed" and "Dark Lady." Her 1998 album "Believe" used auto-tune heavily, which changed her vocalization and popularized the use of the musical audio plugin. The result is now referred to as the "Cher effect." The song also made it to the top of the Billboard chart at the time and was the biggest-selling single of all time by a female artist in the UK.

Cher also ventured into acting in the 1970s, starting with the CBS series "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour." After that, she appeared in films like "Silkwood," "Mask" and "Moonstruck." She has also received a Grammy, an Emmy, an Academy Award, three Golden Globe Awards, a Cannes Film Festival award, the Billboard Icon Award and awards from the Kennedy Center Honors.

Aniston shared how she got to know Cher while on the "Live With Kelly and Ryan" show on March 22, 2023. As reported by Vanity Fair, while talking to hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest about her new movie, “Murder Mystery 2,” the "Friends" actress reminisced about how she used to hang out at Cher's house as a child. Aniston went to the same school, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, as the singer's son, Chaz Bono, and the two were part of the same gang. She told the hosts (as per Vanity Fair):

"Well, I went to high school with Chaz and amongst our group of, our gaggle, we would always go to her house because it was nice. It was Cher."

Aniston shared that they liked Cher's former home because it had "beautiful windows" and "chiffon curtains." Moreover, her neighbor at the time was Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones. She continued:

"It was just wild and wonderful cause we didn't really know Cher. We were little kids in high school, though I guess you understand a little bit at that point. It was just fun to be able to hang out with Cher."

The "We're The Millers" actress also confessed that they loved to nibble on the music star's collection of snacks.

"Yes, she had food, from Balducci's, as she likes to say. And she seems to think I ate it all," Aniston revealed incredulously. "She would always go, 'Yeah, you ate me out of house and home.' And I was like, 'How was I the only one partaking in the cold cuts!'"

The "Horrible Bosses" actress also admitted that she might have snuck into Cher's closet and had a peep after Ripa asked if she ever did that.
