Jennifer Aniston is an American actress who rose to international fame for her role as Rachel Green in the hit series "Friends." Born to two actors, John and Nancy, she came to acting early in life. While attending a Waldorf school, Aniston fell in love with acting at age 11.

She later enrolled at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan. After high school, Aniston worked part-time jobs like waitressing and telemarketing to support herself while she performed in off-Broadway productions. She later moved to Los Angeles, California, where she soon hit fame.

Before too long, Aniston landed her most famous role on the hit television series "Friends," which aired from 1994 to 2004. She won a Primetime Emmy Award for her iconic role, as well as a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award. Her character was extremely popular and is considered one of the most memorable female roles in television history.

Aniston has also starred in a number of films and is one of Hollywood's highest-paid actresses. Films that star Aniston in a leading role have grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide, while 12 of those films earned over $100 million. Her most popular film roles were in "Bruce Almighty," "The Break-Up," "Horrible Bosses" and "We're the Millers." Aniston has also starred in the Apple TV series "The Morning Show."

However, the star has lamented the fact that the old-school glamour of Hollywood is slowly dying and that there are "no more movie stars." Read on to find out more about how she feels about showbiz these days, as well as why she feels lost in the world of social media.

Aniston graced the cover of the December 2022 edition of Allure and divulged much about her life in the magazine's accompanying feature interview. Between discussing interior design, tabloid culture and beauty in your 50s, the interview delved into Aniston's experience trying to get pregnant. She said:

"I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road."

She added she had done what she could to try to help speed things along, but to no avail. "All the years and years and years of speculation... It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it. I would've given anything if someone had said to me, 'Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.' You just don't think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed," she said.

However, Aniston said she had made peace with the past and appreciated the issue was settled.

"I have zero regrets. I actually feel a little relief now because there is no more, 'Can I? Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.' I don't have to think about that anymore."

It was clear, however, that what she didn't appreciate was media speculation and its invention of the "narrative that I was just selfish," she said, adding, "I just cared about my career. And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn't have a child. And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn't give him a kid. It was absolute lies. I don't have anything to hide at this point."

The star also touched on how the spectacle of Hollywood appeared to be fading, and that movie stars aren't what they once were. The story's writer told Aniston what one of her friends had written about the star prior to the interview. He had written: "No one's ever going to be famous the way she is. That kind of mass-fame phenomenon burning so bright for so long, it's just not achievable today. She's like a silent-film star among a generation of TikTok dips***s."

Aniston responded by saying, "Whoa. Oh, that just gave me chills." She then added, "I'm a little choked up. I feel like it's dying. There are no more movie stars. There's no more glamour. Even the Oscar parties used to be so fun..."

A part of this may be due to the rise of social media, which has been shrinking the mystery that used to surround Hollywood stars of old as apps like Twitter and Instagram allows fans such intimate views into their lives. However, Aniston admitted she is wary of social media and isn't feeling its draw.

"I hate social media," she said, adding, "I'm not good at it. … It's torture for me. The reason I went on Instagram was to launch this line," she explained. "Then the pandemic hit and we didn't launch. So I was just stuck with being on Instagram. It doesn't come naturally."

Aniston also theorized the lack of social media and tech gadgets may have aided "Friends" in becoming the hit it was, saying:

"We really loved each other and we took care of each other. I don't know why it still resonates; there are no iPhones. It's just people talking to each other. Nobody talks to each other anymore."
