Jennifer Aniston Donned The Exposed Bra Fashion Trend Nearly 3 Decades Before Its Current Popularity

Jennifer Aniston is an American actress that rose to international fame for her role as Rachel Green in the hit series "Friends." Born to two actors, John Aniston and Nancy Dow, she came to acting early in life. While attending a Waldorf school, Aniston fell in love with acting at age 11.

She later enrolled at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan. After high school, Aniston worked part-time jobs like waitressing and telemarketing to support herself while she performed in off-Broadway productions. Her hard work paid off as the actress bagged a Golden Globe Award in 2003 and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her appearance in “Friends.” In addition, she also made a big fortune out of her acting career because as of 2023, her net worth is estimated at around $320 million.

Since Aniston is a major actress, one of her duties is to attend red-carpet events and movie premiere nights. Whenever she walks down the carpet in front of screaming fans and flashing cameras, the star never fails to wow the public with her choice of clothing.

There was also one point in her career where she took on one of the most risqué fashion trends and her look made it to almost every publication at the time.

Throughout the decades, there have been countless fashion trends that came and went and then later re-appeared in the future. There was one trend in the '90s that Aniston previously took on — the exposed bra trend, which, in its name, is already a giveaway: female celebrities wore dazzling outfits with a cheeky twist as a portion of their underwear was exposed to the world.

As seen in a photo from the 1995 VH1 Honors in Los Angeles, California, the actress could be seen hanging out with her co-star Lisa Kudrow. In photos from the event, Aniston wore a crocheted black cardigan with just a black bra underneath. Her overall look was completed with a pair of black slacks and strappy heels. She accessorized the ensemble with a minimalist necklace.

Although the trend might be controversial to some people, especially at the time when she wore it, there are many other brave celebrities who've defied all odds and decided to take a similar risk all in the name of fashion.

The exposed bra trend has made a comeback and left people strolling down memory lane as it became one of the most popular trends at the Cannes Film Festival in June 2023. According to Vogue, several stars took on the fashion trend like Scarlett Johansson with a look seemingly referencing “Mean Girls” as she wore a pink gown and a white bralette.

On the other hand, Sydney Sweeney, popularly known as the actress from the hit TV series “Euphoria,” attended one of the festival’s events wearing a simple powder blue silk dress with a darker shade of blue bra peeking out from the top.

Since being a celebrity is a big responsibility as actresses have to constantly look good in the public eye, Aniston takes beauty very seriously. In an interview with Glamour Magazine UK, published in 2016, the actress, who at the time was promoting her third fragrance, shared her beauty secrets with the world.

The star first credited her father and grandmother for the genetics she had as she noted that her ancestors have “beautiful skin.” However, sharing their DNA wasn't enough as she is also mindful of taking care of her skin.

“I always wash (my skin) properly, drink lots and lots of water and I really believe that what you put inside your body reflects through your skin,” she told the publication.

Aniston then recalled her younger self as she would “eat all the crap in the world,” but it heavily reflected on the outside as she had blemishes and uneven skin tone during her teenage years.

Regarding her hairstyle, the actress had been praised for her effortless locks. It turns out, the secret is not washing it every day and just choosing a product that doesn’t require any effort to style.

In a separate interview with Elle Magazine in June 2023, Aniston shared more about her workout routine. In the past, the actress admitted she used to “torture” herself as she would wake up early in the morning just to get an hour's worth of exercise in. However, it wasn’t healthy for her as she was burnt out by the end of the day. She then found out about a fitness brand that offers resistance-based equipment, and she admitted it's “more sustainable than any other workout” she had done in the past.
