Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet were among Hollywood’s most influential power couples. The couple announced their split in January 2022, shocking fans and the media worldwide. 

Jason and Lisa were together for almost 16 years and are the proud parents of 15-year-old daughter Lola Iolani Momoa and son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha, 13, whose parents simply call him Wolf.

Both Jason and Lisa are accomplished actors. Bonet was one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood in the 1980s and 1990s and rose to fame after starring in “The Cosby Show.”

Jason is an actor and filmmaker who has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry since the late 1990s. He made his acting debut in the action-drama series “Baywatch Hawaii” in 1999 and stayed on the show until 2001. He found even more fame when he was cast as Khal Drogo in the first two seasons of “Game of Thrones” – a show that helped catapult the careers of many of its stars.

Later in life, the Honolulu native of Hawaiian and Samoan descent is best known for his role as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe. A sequel to the first solo Aquaman film, “Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom,” was released in 2023. Jason also reached an even higher level of success thanks to the film “Dune.” He also starred in the 10th installment of the “Fast & Furious” series called “Fast X,” alongside Vin Diesel.

In an interview with James Corden in 2017, Jason Momoa revealed that when he was eight years old in 1987, he saw Lisa Bonet first on TV when she was on “The Cosby Show.” At the time, the actress was 20 years old and was married to her ex-husband Lenny Kravitz.

Jason and Lisa’s relationship began in 2005. They started dating that year after a chance meeting at a jazz club in Los Angeles. At the time, the actress was already separated from her first husband, but they had a daughter named Zoë Kravitz.

Two years into their relationship, they welcomed their first child named Lola Iolani in 2007. Lisa confirmed their firstborn through a post on Jason’s forum, and she revealed that the baby was born at home. Her name was inspired by the hawks that flew overhead during her birth.

In 2008, their second child, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa, was born “on the stormiest, rainiest night.”

Regarding the youngest Momoa’s name, Jason explained that the first name means “warrior” while the middle name was inspired by the weather when he was born.

In January 2022, the couple announced their separation, which fans hadn’t seen coming.

“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is no exception…” they wrote in a since-deleted statement, as reported by People Magazine.

They later clarified that although both of them are separating “in marriage,” their children would still be their number one priority.

In January 2024, Lisa filed for divorce from Jason two years after they separated. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind the breakup. The date of their separation was listed as October 2020.

Jason Momoa proved to the world that he is the best dad to his children as he constantly shared sweet photos of them together.

In 2017, the actor took to his official Instagram account to share an image of himself along with his two children who visited the set of his movie “Aquaman.”

In the caption, he wrote, “Raising sensitive savages Priceless day on set proud to be aqua papa. OHANA”

His two children appeared to have fake tattoos similar to their father who plays the titular role of the DC superhero.

He also constantly takes his children along to join him at red-carpet events for different movies.

Jason has several tattoos, but one could be the most significant for him as it was the signatures of Lola and Wolf written in red ink on his left chest.

In an interview with Men’s Health in 2020, he gave insight into his private life with his family, especially when the pandemic started, which made him stay at home.

He noted that he built two walls for them to climb on; they spent time swimming, skateboarding, listening to music, playing guitar, and hiking with their family dogs.

At the time, both kids were doing remote learning, which is why Jason was happy for them to “do school on the road and come be with Papa.”

Unfortunately, there were truly devastating times in his family, including when he had a hard time paying bills at their home in Topanga Canyon. 

He told InStyle that he “couldn’t get to work,” and it was challenging for him as he had two kids. Later on, the actor was able to bounce back when he was cast in “Justice League.”
