Jamie Lee Curtis Brings Up Contentious Concert Suggestion But Fans Love It

Jul 18, 2023 by apost team

Jamie Lee Curtis is famous for her roles in "Knives Out," "A Fish Called Wanda," "My Girl," "True Lies," "You Again" and "Freaky Friday." Her parents were popular movie stars, Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis

Jamie initially didn't want to be an actress. However, she made her debut in 1977 in "Quincy, M.E." when she was 18 and rose to prominence a year later as Laurie Strode in the horror movie classic "Halloween." Since then, she has worked on diverse genres of movies and established herself as a talented actress.

Jamie's parents were together for 11 years. They divorced when she was four, and it affected her view of love when she was growing up. Leigh's marriage to Tony was her third, and she married once more after divorcing him, while Tony married five more times after the divorce.

Despite her fear, Jamie was lucky to find her soul mate. She told her friend she would marry her husband, Christopher Guest, the first time she saw his picture in a Rolling Stone magazine. Although Jamie made the first move by calling his agent to drop her number, she didn't record any luck. They met a while later in a restaurant in LA. Guest, who was sitting a few tables away, acknowledged her and called after that day.

The couple wed four months after their first date in 1984 and have been together for almost four decades. Jamie has often advised couples not to divorce because things will not always be good or bad.

She also dished another piece of advice that is now famous. In an interview on March 4, 2023, she told The Hollywood Reporter that her favorite musicians should consider matinees so they can go to bed early. Surprisingly, there were many positive reactions to her suggestion.

Jamie is very strict with her night-time routine. She doesn't go out once it's late and sleeps by 7:30 p.m. unless there is a pressing need to be out, like when she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Everything Everywhere All at Once." Jamie was at hand to receive her award at the Oscars ceremony, which was held on March 12, 2023.

In line with her routine, Jamie shared with The Hollywood Reporter on March 4, 2023, saying she wouldn't attend the very private 2023 Oscar nominees' dinner on March 9, 2023.

"You might say, 'Jamie, you're nominated for an Academy Award, you're going to be in the room with only nominees for the Academy Award,'" she quipped.

Jamie noted that the event would start by 7:30 p.m., and for anyone wondering why she declined the invitation, she explained:

"Because mommy goes to bed early. Cause 7:30 is gonna be 9 before we get food, and you know what? There's nothing good happening with me after 9 o'clock. Nothing. Zero!" she concluded

The "Knives Out" star also opened up to "Today" about how early the dinner would have to be for her to attend it.

"Five," she responded, and added, "Here’s the thing, you see there’s a nominees' lunch which was fantastic because it was lunch time and we were all there, we were all dressed up."

"They took that big class picture of everyone, it was thrilling!" she continued. "If that had been at night, I would have gone, but it would have been arduous to me because I’m just that girl."

Due to her dislike for staying out late at night, Jamie wants her favorite musicians to consider having their concerts earlier.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter at the Independent Spirit Awards on March 4, 2023, the actress asked her favorite musicians and bands to consider starting their concerts early.

"I am gonna just say this now as a taunt and as a suggestion. U2 — do a matinee. Coldplay — do a matinee. What about a 12 noon concert, Coldplay? What about it?" she declared passionately.

The 64-year-old also addressed Bruce Springsteen

"Bruce Springsteen — do a f***ing matinee! You’re old! Why wouldn’t you let me come see you, Bruce Springsteen, in your glory days — pun intended — and do it at noon or 1 o’clock? Two o’clock! Two o’clock matinee! Theater in New York, 2 o’clock! I will come and hear your five-hour concert, Bruce, at 2 o’clock, and I’m gonna be home and in bed by 7:30," she asserted

Jamie further explained during an appearance on Today

"I'm challenging musicians to do concerts during the day. Why are there no matinees? For instance, I love Coldplay, I would love to go see Coldplay. I would love it, but the problem is I am not going to see Coldplay if they start their show at nine and there is an opening act. I want to hear Coldplay at 1 p.m."

Interestingly, several people supported Jamie’s controversial request.

"Great idea, Jamie Lee! How about it Bruce?" a fan commented.

A second fan wrote, "She is not wrong. No matter the time of the show, fans will show up. Festivals start at noon, and some of the best bands play before 5."

A third fan agreed, "I really think she's on to something."
