Italian Neighbours Lean Out Of Windows And Sing Local Song Together During Lockdown

As Italy continues to be under lockdown in an effort to contain the Coronavirus, some civilians are finding ways to bring a little fun to a gloomy situation.
This Thursday, a video posted on Twitter showed inhabitants of a Siena neighborhood all lean out of their windows to sing with each other.
The video, which was uploaded by a local on Thursday evening, showed neighbors in the city of Siena lean out of their windows to sing an Italian song.
The song, which is titled Canto della Verbena (While Siena Sleeps), is a traditional song in the locality which inhabitants sing to express pride for their city.

The video was uploaded by David Allegranti, who is a writer for Il Foglio newspaper. Speaking to HuffPost, Allegranti said the video, which has since gone viral, was sent to him by a friend of his.
“This video is touching,” Allegranti told HuffPost. “The first time I saw it I started to cry.”

This week, in an attempt to contain the fast-spreading virus, Italy has been placed under lockdown, with all but essential shops like supermarkets and pharmacys being closed down and public gatherings canceled.
