Being a rhythmic gymnast is no easy task. Not only must you possess athletic prowess, you also need to be creative and determined. Rhythmic gymnasts are classified as gymnasts who also utilize certain types of apparatus such as ribbons, balls, hoops, clubs, and ropes; there's also an option to go free hand.

Originally from Iasi, Romania, Alexandra Ana Marie Agiurgiuculese (January 15, 2001-present) is an Italian rhythmic gymnast. She's quite decorated, having achieved many accomplishments.

In 2016, at the European Junior Championships, she won four medals. In 2018, she won a bronze medal for her work with a ball at the World Championships. She's also won two silver medals, one in 2017 and one in 2018, as the runner-up in Italian Nationals. Above all, in 2012, 2013, and 2015, she was an Italian Junior Champion, placing first all three years.

Rhythmic gymnasts must be skilled in so many different areas. Not only must they have the muscular conditioning of a gymnast, and the mental wherewithal to handle juggling, balancing, and overall handling of various apparatuses, but they also must possess abilities in dancing. Particularly, rhythmic gymnasts have backgrounds in ballet.

While rhythmic gymnasts have a variety of talents, there are specific ways to earn points. During a competition the one with the most points wins. A group of judges determines the amount of points to award based on the performer's quality of jumps, stability of balances, accuracy of pivots, ability to handle an apparatus, as well as their combined execution of moves.

The performer must keep in mind that the entirety of the floor must be covered--staying in one area is not considered that difficult to the judges. Each move the performer enacts is practiced until perfection.

While it might appear easy, each move requires a high level of athletic ability.

Performers must be strong enough in order to handle a barrage of leaps. They also need to be flexible and durable, as the apparatus makes it even more difficult. Not to mention, hand-eye coordination is of utmost importance.

Rhythmic gymnastics is certainly not eye-catching for everyone. However, you should check out this one awesome video. Alexandra is simply stunning!
