Interior Designer Hilary Farr Is Also A Loving Mother And Grandma

Hilary Farr wears a lot of hats. She is a British-Canadian designer, businesswoman and television host. Farr also used to be a former actress. It’s safe to say that she’s spent a great amount of time in the spotlight, specifically on television shows, with her most notable work being the co-host of “Love It or List It” alongside David Visentin. Along with this, Farr is also the president of Hilary Farr’s Designs, which was established in Toronto and in New York City.

Born on Aug. 31, 1962, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Farr grew up in London, England. She had a great passion for the arts, specifically theater, and later found another love with interior design while helping her mother decorate her childhood home. It’s clear that Farr stayed immersed in these interests as she has made a very successful and respectable career for herself as the years progressed.

On top of being extremely busy with work and enjoying life in the entertainment industry, Farr is also a proud mother to her only son, Josh. The love and adoration Farr has for her son is evident, as she happily shares plenty of photographs and videos of him on her social media platforms. She is also a proud grandmother of three beautiful grandchildren!

Although not much is known about Josh as he keeps much of his life pretty private, Farr has shared some of her favorite moments with him over the years, allowing the world to witness their amazing bond as mother and son. Read on to find out more about Farr’s career and her son Josh.

After moving to Los Angeles, California, Farr bought several properties and worked to renovate them. She took this hobby seriously and made it a part-time job, renovating homes and sets of various films and television shows. Farr expanded her career, designing and renovating properties all across the world, including places in Australia, the United Kingdom, Toronto, California and New York.

As a hopeful actress, Farr also made small appearances in a variety of plays, even landing a singing role in “Grease” in London in 1973. Some of the other productions she appeared in were “Never Mind the Quality, Feel the Width” in 1973, “Legend of the Werewolf” in 1975 and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” in 1975. During the 1980s, she went on to have small parts in sitcoms.

Farr married a Canadian TV producer by the name of Gordon Farr in 1982, and the couple had one son together named Josh. However, Farr and Gordon did not last, and they ended up divorcing in 2008. Afterward, Farr returned to Toronto and was signed on to become a co-host of the home design series “Love It or List It” on HGTV alongside Visentin. 

Since then, Farr and Visentin have been working together and meeting with couples who can’t agree on whether they should move on from their current residence. According to Distractify, Farr is known for her useful design skills on the show, helping to make the houses more functional for the families, while Visentin uses his real estate experience to encourage the couples to move into a new home.

While Farr has definitely made a name for herself on television, she also has a pretty good reputation as a mother to her son Josh. Although Josh’s life is pretty private and not too much is known about his career, it appears that he is very close with his mother.

On June 21, 2020, Farr shared an adorable photograph of her son Josh and his own children on her Instagram to celebrate Father’s Day. According to Distractify, Josh is married and has two sons and a daughter, making Farr a very happy grandmother of three!

In her Instagram post, Farr wrote:

“My favorite father. This child of mine amazes me. He has never lost the little boy within and is filled with wonder, joy, fun, endless love and respect for his children and his beautiful wife. I’m so proud of him.”

While Farr has shown time and again how proud she is of her son, Josh has also shared some of his fondest memories with his mother. In May 2020, Farr uploaded a video to Twitter that was from Josh and his three kids, wishing her a Happy Mother’s Day.

In the video, a somewhat long-haired Josh said:

“Hi, I’m Hilary Farr’s son, Josh. I just wanted to wish my mom a very Happy Mother’s Day. As you can see, I haven’t been to the barber in a while, which reminds me of a story from when I was really little and you tried to cut my hair. And you were trimming around my ear, and actually cut me. I never forgot it! So that’s why my hair’s so long today. Happy Mother’s Day, we can’t wait to see you in person.”
