Impeccable Timing: Mythical Moment A Moose Is Spotted At The End Of Rainbow
Jun 26, 2020 by apost team
Earlier this month, a moose was spotted at the end of a rainbow in Colorado.
Most of us expect to find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow — or a kiss if you are a fan of bluegrass mythology. However, the last thing most people would expect to encounter at the far end of an atmospheric prism is a half-ton beast. In this once-in-a-lifetime clip, we see just that. Encountering wildlife is always exciting enough on its own. However, combining the spectacle of wild animals with the majesty of a rainbow is a sight to behold.
Moose can be surprisingly elegant creatures despite their heft. However, their sizes mean that they can often be too fearless for their own good. In northern regions, it is extremely common to see moose casually strolling alongside roads. Sometimes this does not pose a problem. However, too often it ends poorly.
A collision with a moose can spell disaster for the animal, but also for the passenger. Never forget that a moose can easily weigh as much as a small car. Luckily, no such challenges occur here. The driver was calm and alert, and the animal was easily able to cross the road.

In the damp climates of northern regions, the high humidity and rainfall mean that rainbows are not uncommon. Yet there is something about rainbows that no matter how many you see, they still manage to take your breath away.
The juxtaposition of a blue or cloudy sky being pierced by a full spectrum of color is, to say the least, a sight to behold. Although rainbows might not be uncommon, seeing one in this video is a treat.
The particular moose in this video resides in Colorado, a common location for moose sightings. However, this was not always the case. For many years, a combination of hunting and deforestation had driven moose to become an endangered species with their population dwindling sharply, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Thankfully, conservation efforts have been fairly successful in repopulating Colorado's wilderness. While it is extremely to know the exact number of any given animal in a region, the best estimates suggest that there are over 3,000 moose in Colorado. They're not out of the woods yet, but they're at least back in the forest.
The moose in the video appears to be an adolescent male. Unlike other wild animals, moose take a fairly long time to mature. A deer can walk normally and hunt within a few months of being born. Yet a moose will typically stay with its mother for over a year as it develops the skills and strength needed to become a thriving adult. You can tell that the moose here is a younger example due to its smaller size and awkward gate.
Just like people, it takes moose some time to learn how to adjust to their size and walk less awkwardly. Soon enough it will become the graceful king of the forest that we would expect, however. Thankfully, their adolescent stage does not cut into their life span too much. According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, a moose will typically live around 20 years in the wild, so it has plenty of graceful striding ahead of it.
Encountering such an impressive creature and such a beautiful natural spectacle is such a poignant reminder of the power of nature. What is your favorite example of encountering nature's beauty unexpectedly? Let us know in the comments and be sure to pass this along to your loved ones.
