Sometimes love can be found in the most unexpected places. Identical twin sisters, Venessa and Kerissa D’Arpino, never expected to start dating identical twin brothers, Lucas and Jacob Sealby until they had a chance meeting in June of 2020. These two sets of siblings quickly hit it off and even moved in together after only three months of dating.
The couples live together in Medford, Oregon where Venessa and Kerissa have their family. Jacob and Lucas just happened to move to the area after starting new jobs. The pairs have a lot in common. The brothers both work in sports medicine and the sisters are personal trainers. They all met after one of Venessa’s clients met Lucas and thought to introduce them. After speaking on the phone, Lucas shared that he is also a twin and they decided to try a double date.
Now, the couples say that 75% of all of their dates are double dates. However, when they all go out together they do draw a lot of attention. They often get asked if they are both sets of twins to which they reply “yes!” The group all get along very well, which is good because they end up spending a lot of time together. They also shared that they do try to spend time apart as well, just to keep a healthy balance.
The odds of these twins all finding each other and falling in love are so slim that the couples have taken to calling their situation “divine intervention.” They know they are meant to be together but have chosen to slow down and enjoy dating before deciding to get married. The story of these twins has captivated people from all over the world. In an interview with KVAL, the couples shared what it is like when they all go out together. “When we’re all four together, people don’t ask. They just kind of stare at us,” Venessa said. And we’re like, ‘Yes we’re twins.’ They’re like, ‘Oh ok, I thought so. That’s just so random and out of the odds I didn’t want to ask.’”
The brothers just happened to move to Medford at the same time the sisters moved back home to be closer to family. “I can believe in coincidences, but I don’t know if I can believe in that many happening in a row,” Jacob said. “There’s just too much that happened in sequence at the exact right time for me to think that.” This is where their idea of “divine intervention” comes in.
When they first met, the pairs planned on going bowling but decided to stay home instead. Venessa shared, “As soon as we started talking, we stayed here for about 4-5 hours just getting to know each other and then coincidence after coincidence. After that, it was like two days later we were boyfriend and girlfriend and we’re not letting go of this.”
The couples mentioned that they do not want to have a joint wedding, despite how close they are. When asked if they plan on getting married any time soon, Lucas responded: “It probably depends on your definition of soon. It’s going to happen. But, I don’t think we’re in a race. I think our racing days are over.”
