Husband Refuses To Leave His Wife After Fire Damages Her Looks & Shows Meaning Of Real Commitment

Although relationships are much deeper than just physical attraction, it’s still important to be attracted to your partner in order to have the best chemistry you possibly can. Without this, it can just feel like you’re having really great and meaningful conversations with a friend or roommate as opposed to a partner.
In 2011, a woman by the name of Turia Pitt sustained severe burns that dramatically changed her physical appearance. She looked so different that she was almost unrecognizable, but her partner never once left her side.
Pitt had been competing in a 100-kilometer ultra-marathon when she was suddenly caught in a grassfire in western Australia. With nowhere else to go, Pitt and the other competitors tried to outrun the flames, but it was to no avail. She was left with burns covering almost 65% of her body and required more than 200 medical procedures before spending years in recovery.
Since then, Pitt has rebuilt her life and has been using her platform to share her story with the world with her amazing partner by her side. The Australian woman is now known for being a mining engineer, an athlete, an author, and a motivational speaker.
She and her fiancé Michael Hoskin had already been dating for a few years prior to Pitt suffering from horrific burns and are still going strong ten years later. No matter what challenges were thrown their way or whatever obstacles they faced, the pair faced them together, proving that their love is real and their relationship is one that is meant to last.

In August 2021, the Daily Mail reported that Pitt was “really proud” of her relationship with Hoskin as they approached the 10-year mark following her traumatic experience. “We’ve been through something catastrophic and extremely traumatic and, this may sound naff, but we’re living our best lives and we’re happy,” she said.
On her website, Pitt shared more of her story. After getting caught in a grassfire while competing in an ultra-marathon, she was left with full-thickness burns to 65% of her body and placed in a medically-induced coma for a month. Pitt lost seven fingers and had over 200 medical procedures.
After spending two years in recovery while wearing a full-body compression suit and mask, Pitt rebuilt her life and moved on to achieve several amazing accomplishments. She has written three best-selling books, grown a business, and coached over 40,000 people through a digital course.
Pitt and Hoskin have definitely had their fair share of ups and downs over the years but have always stuck by each other’s side. “It’s really easy to like someone for their good qualities and want to change their not-so-sparkling qualities,” Pitt said. “We’re good at accepting each other for who we are.”
Although the pair got engaged in 2015, Hoskin had actually bought the diamond ring back in 2011 when Pitt was in intensive care, as per the Daily Mail. The happy couple has since started their beautiful family together, welcoming two adorable sons: 3-year-old Hakavai and 1-year-old Rahiti. It’s clear that Pitt and Hoskin have defied the odds and truly love each other no matter what.

In a blog post on her website, Turia recollected on the day that changed her life:
"In September 2011, I was trapped by a grassfire during an ultramarathon.
This is what I remember.
I remember the hot Kimberly sun beating down, burning my already burnt skin.
I remember accidentally sitting on a bull ant nest. Staring in confusion as the ants started swarming across my legs.
I remember trying to drink some water but spitting it out because it was boiling hot.
I remember seeing bits of my skin stuck to the rocks and spinifex.
I remember the small group of us, banded together. The guys trying to construct some shade for Kate and I, a parasol of fluoro material lit up against the sky."
The post went on to illuminate the strong relationship between Turia and Michael, as she recalled immediately thinking of him:
"I remember thinking about Michael, my Michael. I remember telling myself 'Think of his warm face, think of his honey voice, think of his golden skin. Keep thinking about Michael.'"
As a writer, teacher, and coach Turia uses her blog to not only tell her story but give practical life advice to her readers. Some of Turia's blogs include tips on confidence, while others ponder the best means of getting a lodged LEGO unstuck from one's vacuum cleaner.
In a Mother's Day feature for Now To Love Magazine, Turia and Michael's love story was told through photos, and Michael told the magazine what he loves about Turia:
"She doesn't want people to feel sorry for her. She just wants to get on with her life. She's beautiful, you know, she's amazing. She's got crazy energy. She loves the outdoors, she loves the ocean like I do and we were constantly active together."
