She recounts hospital horror stories and alarming situations of otherwise well0intentioned coaches and parents putting their children in danger. She recount an occasion when a softball coach brought an entire team to the hospital to visit one sick child.
“If a team member of a softball team is sick or injured, you do not bring the entire softball team in to check on them because guess what? You just got maybe 15 new vectors, or carriers of the flu, by them just walking in. Because I watched them all walk in last night and not one of them touched the hand sanitizer, not once! Because the flu is a cesspool of funky flu at the ER right now. So please don’t bring your team in. Please don’t bring your healthy children in — especially your newborn babies! And if you don’t have what I call a true emergency, this would not be a time to come to the emergency room.”
In the video, she also talks about ways to avoid the flu or treat it yourself. These are her top tips:
- Tamiflu will limit the time you have the flu
- Before going to the ER, buy some over=the-counter Tylenol or ibuprofen and take a big enough dosage to wipe out the fever
- Stay hydrated - drink plenty of fluids and Powerade or Gatorade
- WASH YOUR HANDS! Especially when handling a baby or young child
- Stay at home, if you are sick, try and isolate yourself from other people so that you do not spread the flu
She also teaches you a trick of how to sneeze without spreading germs. If you sneeze into the crock of your arm, you avoid getting germs on your hands which are easily spreadable.
Response to her video has been overwhelming and most people are incredibly grateful for words and advice.
One person said,
“OH MY GOD SHE IS MY HERO. I wish this could be played on repeat in the waiting room,”
