Jul 13, 2018 by apost team

Our feet have it rough! They get smothered with stinky socks, they get crammed into painful shoes, and they have to carry the weight of our entire body our whole lives. Do something nice for your feet by giving them one of these amazing at-home spa treatments and you'll be amazed by how soft they feel.

1. Baking Soda

Baking soda is the one ingredient you need for every beauty routine. It clears your pores, it can replace traditional shampoos, it whitens your teeth, and it can also give you delicate feet. Mix baking soda with a bit of water until it forms a thick paste. Rub it on your feet and give yourself an exfoliating massage for a few minutes. You can also throw a few tablespoons of baking soda into a foot bath and relax for half an hour.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar And Listerine

Did you know that vinegar and mouthwash can destroy your calluses? All you have to do is mix 1 part apple cider vinegar, 1 part Listerine, and 2 parts warm water for a 10-20 minute foot soak. Once you're done, rinse your feet, pat them dry, and exfoliate your calluses with a pumice stone. You'll be amazed by how much easier your calluses come off after this soak.

3. Olive Oil

Olive oil is great for total body moisturizing. However, if you want to focus on softening your feet, simply rub some olive oil all over them before bedtime and put on some cotton socks. You'll wake up with noticeably softer feet.

4. Honey

Honey works quite similarly to olive oil. You can give yourself a relaxing foot massage by combining 1/4 of a cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 3 drops of peppermint oil in a bowl. Then you can use this mixture to exfoliate and moisturize your feet. When you're done, simply wash your feet and pat them dry!

5. Milk

Try using milk instead of water for your next foot bath. Heat up 4 cups of milk until it's tolerably hot and soak for 5 minutes. Take some time to exfoliate your feet with some baking soda then pop your feet back into the bath for 5 more minutes. You'll definitely feel relaxed and pampered when you're done.

6. Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil feels amazing on your feet after a long day. Combine its therapeutic effects with a few other ingredients for a luxurious scrub. All you need is 1 cup of oats, 1 cup of cornmeal, 1/4 of a cup of sea salt, and a few drops of peppermint oil. Since this scrub is dry, you need to apply it on wet feet. Massage for several minutes, paying special attention to problematic areas, then rinse your feet. Apply your favorite lotion after for a complete spa treatment.

7. Banana

You probably weren't aware that bananas are actually awesome for feet. They contain lots of amino acids and vitamins that soften skin. The best part is you can enjoy your bananas two ways. First, mash a couple of ripe bananas until they form a paste then apply the mask to your feet for 20 minutes. Second, if you'd rather eat your bananas, you can still utilize their skin. All you have to do is rub the inside of the peel all over your feet and relax for 20 minutes. Both methods will leave you with velvety feet.

8. Aloe Vera

We all know aloe vera is great for sunburns, but it can totally revitalize your feet, too. You don't have to do anything special, either. Simply rub some aloe vera on your feet, put on some cotton socks, and enjoy the moisturizer!

9. Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum jelly works wonders for softening your feet. Use vaseline as a primer for your exfoliation routine. Simply apply a thin coat of vaseline before bed, throw on some socks, and get your beauty sleep. When you wake up, wash your feet and work on exfoliating. Your routine will be a lot easier, quicker, and effective.

10. Toothpaste

Here are 3 ways you can use toothpaste to improve your foot health:

  1. Increase the effectiveness of your pumice stone by rubbing some minty toothpaste on your feet beforehand.
  2. Whiten your toenails by scrubbing some toothpaste on your nails with an old toothbrush.
  3. Eliminate blisters by smearing some toothpaste on top and letting it sit for a couple of hours. Gently remove with a washcloth and repeat twice a day until the blister is gone.

Which treatment is your favorite? Make sure all your friends know these tricks so they can have super soft feet, too!
