High School Sweethearts Broke Up Because Of Racism, Reunite And Marry More Than 40 Years Later

Sometimes it's very hard to forget your high school crush and first love. This is the remarkable story of Myra Clark and Howard Foster, two high school sweethearts that fell in love in 1967 but had to break off the relationship due to segregation laws at the time.
Even though these two young kids from Columbus, Ohio were in love at the time, they couldn't be seen together. They were subject to segregation laws that were stringent when they were in high school. But in 2015, decades after having to part ways, the two finally got married.

Howard did what any reasonable man would do at his age: he decided to break off the relationship and save both of them from the torment that they could have faced had they continued with the relationship.

Howard told ABC 6 that he cried in his car after telling Myra that it was over because he really loved her, and he wasn't sure if they were ever going to meet again. After the breakup, life went back to normal for these two. They continued with their lives, went to college, got jobs, and did other responsible grown-up things.
Interestingly, all this time, the two lovebirds always thought about each other. Howard eventually got married but got divorced later on. On the other hand, Myra remained single well into her 40s. It was only by a stroke of luck that the two people were reunited after more than four decades apart.
They reunited at a park in 2013 and quickly fell back in love with each other, as the Associated Press reports. They finally had a chance to reignite the old spark, and that made all the difference. After two years, they decided to tie the knot and spend the rest of their lives together as it should have been from the very first moment that they saw each other.
Now with legal segregation no longer part of today's society, Myra and Howard can enjoy their life together.
"Right now, it is just so much fun to be happy," Howard told ABC 6, while laughing.
This is truly one of the most amazing romance stories of the 21st century. It just goes to show that in the end, love conquers everything.
