These gymnasts from Ibara High School in Okinawa, Japan, showed they could move in perfect harmony, and were so impressive they won the championship.

The style of gymnastics that this team compete in is rhythmic. This usually means that the team will use props such as ribbons and hoops, but this all-male team decided that they would do it without any aids. They wore striking black, form-fitting costumes, with a colorful yellow and purple design across the chest.

The 6-strong team took to the stage, and held their starting positions, ready to perform what would end up being the routine that won them the entire competition. It also led some of the gymnasts to go on to join university teams in the sport, reports Stripes Okinawa.

The music they performed to was slow and gentle, and fitted their routine perfectly. They started off in time with the music, and gradually built up to flawless backflips and stunning tricks. Their flexibility and smooth transitions were a dream to see.
A number of their moves were inspired by cheerleading, and some incorporated characteristics of traditional ballet. They also added a few lifting stunts – these are always a winner with the crowd!
