At the 2011 Lake Howell High School's annual talent show there were many great acts, but one act went above and beyond to entertain the crowd. At the beginning of the act, 5 purple drums littered the stage. Five high school boys then emerged from the side of the stage wearing red kilts.
What began as a joke turned into a serious performance moments later.

The teens began to play the drums at a near expert level. They were completely in sync with each other, and it became obvious that they put a lot of practice in order to perform their act. This clever mixture of music and comedy ended up winning the talent show's first prize. The act was caught on video and has since gone viral, with it currently boasting over 21 million views on Youtube.
Dylan Charles, one of the members, spoke to Drumlines of America four years later about the success that came after their performance. He explained that he and his friends initially didn't take the talent show too seriously.
“The high school was holding some sort of cultural or ethnic event,” Charles said. “Apparently if they gave a performance they would get an entire day off of school. Thus the Scottish drummers were born.”
Despite the lax attitude of the boys, the performance proved to be a huge success. Their act was caught on video and has since gone viral, with it currently boasting over 21 million views on Youtube.
The video became such a sensation, that Charles said America's Got Talent became relentless in trying to contact them in order to get them to perform on the show.
“I always get recognized at percussion competitions now, and every once in a while random people on the street will recognize me too.”
