Hidden Dangers Lurk In Keyless Cars: What You Need To Know
Sep 05, 2018 by apost team
Technology is constantly changing, but some of the changes can be dangerous. When it comes to our cars, the latest technologies can actually be dangerous. Inventors have searched for ways to make our vehicles more convenient, and one of the latest changes is the keyless car.
While keyless cars still have keys, the key is actually located within a fob. This key never has to be placed into the ignition like a normal key. Instead, the car's driver pushes a button. On some keyless cars, the driver just has to turn the ignition without putting a key in it. The car is able to start because it has sensors that recognize when the key is in the car. As long as the driver has the fob in their purse or pocket, they do not have to actually take it out and use it.

When you are in a rush, the last thing you want to do is search through your bag for a key. Unfortunately, this convenient feature can also be dangerous. One of the biggest problems with keyless cars is that people forget that they are running.

Even if you manage to forget turning it on, you can still hear the engine running. Modern cars have extremely quiet engines. Hybrid cars are especially quiet compared to older vehicles. When these new cars are running, it is easy to forget that the engine is on.
If you are in a parking lot, leaving the car on might not be a major problem. You might waste some gas, but you will sooner or later remember to turn the car off. If your car is parked in a garage, you can end up getting sick or dying. When the car engine is on, it releases carbon monoxide into the air. Currently, there have been more than two dozen deaths from people who left their car running. Because they did not realize that the car was on, they ended up dying from carbon monoxide poisoning. In addition to these deaths, dozens of other people have become ill and needed treatment.
Car manufacturers could easily fix this problem by changing the car alarm. Right now, the cars are designed to make alarm sounds if someone leaves with the key while the vehicle is running. Unfortunately, the alarm only goes off inside the car. Car manufacturers merely have to make the alarm go off on the inside and the outside of the vehicle. Another potential solution is to design the car to automatically switch off after the driver has been gone for a certain amount of time.
