'Healing Time on Earth': One-Time Performance From John Denver
Jul 19, 2020 by apost team
It's alleged that the late John Denver performed his song Healing Time on Earth just once, two years before his passing. The one-time performance was in 1995 at the Windstar Symposium.
The catchy lyrics of Healing Time on Earth:
Let the mountains speak, let the rivers run / As the world awakes to the rising sun / In each brand-new day, in our own rebirth / In this healing time, on our Mother Earth / Let the mountains talk, let the rivers run / There is wisdom here, there's so much to learn / In each brand-new day, in our own rebirth / In this healing time, for our Mother Earth"

How it started
Before beginning the song, Denver recounts, "David Brower, who I love with all my heart and respect more than I can express, has been after me for ... about five years to write a song called 'Healing Time on Earth'." Although he accepted the proposition and "wanted to desperately" write the song, he never got around to get it done.
He explained to the audience:
"But somehow, it just hasn't come. And, I kept thinking that it's gonna be one of those songs that just one day, you know, it's all gonna be there".
The Process of Song Writing
John takes the first few minutes of his performance to explain to the audience that the songwriting process was incredibly magical. He didn't understand where they came from, or how they happened. Some songs will require you to sweat blood, and others will take months. While other times you only need a napkin and 10 minutes, one such song is Heart to Heart, which he wrote while sitting alone in a restaurant overlooking the Hong Kong harbor.
But with this song, it was a whole other story. As the symposium got closer, John still wanted to write the song, so he decided to use his friend David's book called Let the Mountains Talk, Let the Rivers Run: A Call to Those Who Would Save the Earth that he had read for inspiration.
The song Healing Time on Earth
The audience cracks up when he says, "I started writing a song. And this has been going on for a couple of weeks ... Up until 4:30 yesterday morning, all I had was 'let the mountains talk and let the river run'." And in that same spirit up until his performance, he still didn't have the words for the song. But, he still desired to play something for his dear friend David and the audience.
"So, I don't know how it happens, and I don't know the words to this song. I may know some of them ... This is a song in progress, folks", he humors the audience. "But, Dave, I don't want you to go home from this trip thinking 'that d*mn John Denver was never going to write that song'," he concludes then begins to play a sweet tune on his acoustic guitar. The award-winning guitarist, singer, and songwriter was able to win the hearts of many within minutes of composing, polishing, and performing the brilliant and soothing song. It is sad to think that this beautiful composition did not get to be published.
This fantastic song is a breath of fresh air, so calming, soothing, and refreshing. You can play it at any time and any day in whatever situation, and you will love and appreciate it the same way. Don’t forget to spread this melodious song to your friends and family!
