Actor Harrison Ford has been married to actress Calista Flockhart since June 15, 2010. The couple has been through a lot together during their marriage. Together, they share one adopted son and live together on a ranch in Jackson, Wyoming, that Ford has owned since the 1980s. They first met back in late January 2002 at the Golden Globes and have been in love ever since.

Ford is best known for his starring in the “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” franchises, while Flockhart's titular role as “Ally McBeal” earned her widespread recognition.

The two theatrical performers are a match made in heaven based on all accounts. Despite achieving more than a decade of marital happiness, it hasn’t always been a cakewalk for the pair.

Ford has dealt with his fair share of failed relationships in the past, which makes his marriage to Flockhart even more special. He had been married twice before he met Flockhart, while she had never been previously married.

After meeting in 2002, the pair dated for quite some time before getting engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2009. Just over a year later, they were officially husband and wife, with a beautiful ceremony in Santa Fe, New Mexico, presided over by Governor Bill Richardson.

Both Ford and Flockhart have publicly spoken about their relationship over the years, although they tend to lead a pretty private life despite their widespread fame and recognition. On many occasions, the decorated actor has spoken dearly about Flockhart and his adoptive son, Liam.

In January 2002, Ford and Flockhart first locked eyes during the Golden Globes ceremony. According to Hello! Magazine, the pair had a conversation for about 20 minutes before Ford accidentally spilled wine on the actress. Thankfully, that didn’t deter the couple from embracing the undeniable spark between them.

The pair dated for several years before getting engaged in 2009 and tied the knot the following year. According to People Magazine, they married in New Mexico, where Ford was filming “Cowboys & Aliens” at the time.

The couple now lives together at Ford’s ranch in Wyoming and typically hosts their shared family there. According to Parade Magazine, Ford has two children from his first marriage to Mary Marquardt, two from his second marriage to Melissa Mathison, and one adopted son named Liam – whom Flockhart adopted in 2001 before she met Ford.

Ford talked about the new addition to his already huge family in an interview with Parade Magazine:

"I think Liam was about 6 or 8 months old when I met him and Calista. We have been together ever since. I wasn’t expecting it at all. The unexpected part was certainly true. And the joy part is also true.”

The actor, who has developed a liking for flying, collects airplanes despite his almost fatal plane crash in 2015. His weekends, however, have been traded for something meaningful – spending more time with Flockhart and Liam.

"On the weekends, I do whatever Calista and Liam want to do. We'll take a couple of hours on Sunday morning to go motorcycle riding or go for a hike,” he told the magazine.

As a couple that has been together for two decades, many people look to Ford and Flockhart for advice on romantically surviving in Hollywood. Ford’s wisdom in love has been ingrained in him since the start. He gushed over Flockhart in a 2003 interview with People Magazine:

"Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love, and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn't surprised that I did.”

Ford considers raising Liam with his wife a “wonderful opportunity” as they get to witness a child’s growth, which he also likens to an “endless springtime.”

Ford and Flockhart, in their own private plane, both flew their youngest son Liam to college in 2020 at Amherst College in Massachusetts, Daily Mail reported.

Since then, the two had been eyeing a return to show business. In an interview with Fox News in January 2023, Ford revealed their plans for the future:

“We'd love to find one we could do together. She's just going back to work after having devoted herself to the raising of our son, Liam, for the last 20 years ... (She's) enjoying going back to work. I'm hoping we will find something to do together.”

Flockhart’s latest television appearance was in 2021 at CW’s “Supergirl,” where she played the unpredictable Daily Planet editor-in-chief Cat Grant. Ford, on the other hand, is starring alongside Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren in the Paramount+ show, “1923.”

Although Ford and Flockhart are in a good place now, they endured hardships over the course of their relationship. According to People, Ford received backlash following his split with Mathison.

“(The media) spun the most cloth with the least material again and again,” he explained. “It was very hurtful to my kids. It was hurtful to a lot of people, because 90 percent of it was wrong.”

Prior to raising Liam, Ford was already a father of two: Malcolm and Georgia. According to Interview Magazine, Malcolm is in a band called The Dough Rollers.

During their relationship, Ford had helped Mathison see potential in working with Steven Spielberg. The director spoke with Entertainment Weekly about how Mathison had a “change of heart” about working with him on “E.T.” following a talk with her then-partner Ford. Sadly, Mathison passed away in 2015.

When Ford first met Flockhart, she was a single parent, and it seemed like the pair could relate to each other’s loneliness. “There have been times in my life when I have felt I was lonely, but I don’t think you want to live your life in order to mitigate against loneliness,” Ford said.

Ford welcomed Flockhart and her son, Liam, into his life with open arms. “She’s brought a child back into my home,” Ford explained. “My youngest, other than Liam, is 17. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be part of a child’s growing up, which is always an endless springtime. You see the blossoming and the growing and the nurturing and the payoff.”

Despite their 22-year age gap, it’s clear that Ford and Flockhart have an immense amount of love for each other and their blended family.
