Best birthday wishes to Tom Selleck, who turns 75 today! Tom Selleck was born on January 29, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan where he grew up with four siblings. His father, Robert, was a real estate investor and his mother, Martha, was a housewife. After getting his degree in business and acting at the University of Southern California, Tom Selleck served in the army as a sergeant in the U.S. Army infantry, National Guard, Vietnam era.

Selleck started his acting career in 1974 when he starred in the American television soap opera The Young and the Restless. Still, he is mostly known for playing the role of Thomas Magnum in the 80’s television series Magnum. P.I. from 1980 to 1988.

In the series, he portrayed a Hawaiian private investigator who was obsessed with chic sports cars. Selleck was a true hero for the tv audience of the 1980s. His character was cool and smart for he always had the best solution at hand for any problem. He and his Ferrari 308 GTS made female and male hearts beat faster.

Tom Selleck also starred in some motion pictures, for example in Three Men and a Baby (1987), the Australian-American Western film, Quigley Down Under (1990), or In & Out (1997).

Selleck credits some of his success to his faith in God, as he revealed in an interview with Beliefnet, saying: “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”

Tom Selleck divorced his first wife, model Jacqueline Ray in 1982. Five years later he married actress Jillie Mack, who also starred in Magnum. P.I. Today Tom Selleck and Jillie Mack have been married for over 30 years. Together they live on an avocado farm in Hidden Valley, California and have one daughter called Hannah who is 31-years-old by now.

During his career, Selleck has been honored with multiple nominations and awards. Especially his role in Magnum P.I. made him win a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama, as well as an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Furthermore, he has an estimated net worth of almost 45 million dollars.  

Selleck seems to be aging like fine wine. The one thing that hasn't changed about the actor is his facial hair. His iconic mustache was one that many men have tried to imitate. With a goatee or classic mustache, the performer looks good either way.
