Happy 84th Birthday To Julie Andrews

Today, October 1 marks Julie Andrews's 84th birthday. The groundbreaking actress has made waves throughout the industry with over 65 years in show business and by staring in at least 34 films.  

To celebrate, we’re looking back at the Hollywood legend’s 5 most iconic roles throughout the years.

1.Mary Poppins (1964)

In 1964, Andrews made her film debut by starring in the legendary film Mary Poppins.  The film, whichh is based in Edwardian London, is about Mary Poppins --- portrayed by Andrews --  who is a nanny that tries to bring two children closer to their father by using music and magic.

2.The Sound of Music (1965)

A year after the release of Mary Poppins came the release of another classic, The Sound of Music, where Andrews portrayed Maria. 

The film takes place in Salzburg, Austria and is based on Maria Augusta Von Trapp’s memoir, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers.

3.The Tamarind Seed (1974)

In the Tamarind Seed, Andrews took on the role of Judith Farrow, a British woman who falls in love with a Soviet Military Officer Feodor Sverdlov amidst the Cold War.

4.Victor/Victoria (1982)

In Victor/Victoria, Julie Andrews shows off her versitility as an actress by starring in a comedy as Victoria Grant, a struggling Parisian Soprano who finds herself down on her luck. The role of Victoria bagged Andrews an Oscar win. 

5.The Princess Diaries (2001)

In the Princess Diaries, Andrews stars alongside Anne Hathaway as Queen Clarisse Renaldi of Genovia. The movie follows Mia Thermopolis (portrayed by Hathaway) as she navigated her newfound-royal-status as Princess of Genovia.
