Gwyneth Paltrow is one of Hollywood's most well-known actresses. As the quintessential '90s "It" girl, she made an impact both onscreen and off. From winning an Oscar for her role in "Shakespeare in Love" to dating equally famous men, such as Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck, Gwyneth lived a charmed life as an actress before becoming a bonafide businesswoman in the 2000s. Now, she's opened up about what went on behind closed doors when she was dating high-profile men and even revealed who she thought was the better kisser!
Gwyneth is the daughter of Hollywood royalty. Her father was producer and director Bruce Paltrow, and her mother was actress Blythe Danner. Gwyneth first found commercial success on the big screen in 1991's "Hook" as Wendy Darling.
Gwyneth earned her place as one of Hollywood's darlings by appearing in some of the era's most memorable classics, including "Se7en," "Emma," "Sliding Doors," "Great Expectations," "A Perfect Murder" and "The Talented Mr. Ripley."
She followed by the 2000s with hits such as "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "Shallow Hal," before rounding off the decade by jumping into the Marvel universe as Petter Potts in the "Iron Man" series of films.
Then, after marrying Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2003, Gwyneth went on to have a family of her own — a daughter named Apple Martin, who was born in 2004, and a son named Moses Martin, born in 2006. Although Gwyneth and Chris split up in 2016 after 13 years of marriage, they co-parent their two children. Gwyneth has been married to producer Brad Falchuk, who she met while working on the show "Glee," since 2018.
But before the husbands and kids, Gwyneth had quite an interesting love life. Read to find out what she revealed about her time with Pitt and Affleck.
On May 2, 2023, Gwyneth appeared on the podcast "Call Her Daddy," where host Alex Cooper grilled her on her past loves. Gwyneth, 50, dished out some riveting nuggets of information, getting into detail on her romance with Pitt, whom she dated from 1994 to 1997. She described their relationship as "major love at first sight. It was crazy." And then, Pitt proposed.
"One night we were on the balcony of this house we were renting in this little town in Argentina," Gwyneth recounted. "It was fantastic, I was thrilled. We had talked about it, but I was surprised in the moment, I remember that. I must have been 24."
Despite the whirlwind start, their love was not meant to be, and they split before heading down the aisle.
"I had a lot of development to do, looking back in hindsight," Gwyneth explained. "In a lot of ways, I didn't really fully start to come into myself until I was 40 years old. And I had such a pleasing issue. I didn't really even understand how to listen to my instincts and act from that place for what was right for me. I was always trying to adjudicate what was right for everyone else."
Gwyneth confessed she was "totally heartbroken" when they broke up, although it "was the right thing at that time." She added, "There were a number of things that had happened, he was nine years older than me so he was far more … he knew what he wanted, he was ready to do it and I was kind of all over the place."
Gwyneth and Pitt, 59, remained good friends, with him even appearing on her own Goop podcast in 2022. "He's a great guy," she told Cooper. "He's wonderful, I really like him a lot."

During the podcast, Gwyneth also divulged more about ex-boyfriend Affleck in a game, "Brad or Ben." Among the question were "Who is more romantic?", "Who was more likely to make you laugh?" and "Who are you more likely to get into an argument with?"
For the first question, Gwyneth went with Pitt, while she cited Affleck, 50, as the one was more likely to make her laugh and quarrel with. Cooper turned things up a notch by grilling Gwyneth on which one of the men was the better kisser and better in bed.
The ever-so-diplomatic Gwyneth revealed both Pitt and Affleck were "good kissers," but elaborated further on the answer to the second question.
"Brad was like the sort of major chemistry, love of your life, kind of, at the time and then Ben was, like, technically excellent," Gwyneth divulged with a laugh. "I can't believe my daughter is listening to this!"
Gwyneth dated Affleck on and off from 1997 to 2000, and the pair even appeared together in "Shakespeare In Love" and "Bounce." Affleck then kicked off a media circus when he began dating Jennifer Lopez in 2002. They split in 2004, and a year later, Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children. He then rekindled his romance with Lopez in 2021 and wed in July 2022.
As for Pitt, after separating from Gwyneth, he married "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston in 2000. They divorced five years later, and he began a relationship with Angelina Jolie. Dubbed "Brangelina," their pairing threw the media into a frenzy. They married in 2014 and share three biological children – Shiloh, born in 2006, and twins Knox and Vivienne, who they welcomed in 2008.
